Sean “Diddy” Combs has been at the center of controversy since several former girlfriends and employees have filed lawsuits against him alleging vicious and questionable behavior. One of his former girlfriends accused him of physically and sexually abusing her.

The situation for the hip-hop mogul became even worse when surveillance video footage leaked showing him brutally beating and dragging his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, through the hallway of a hotel. Now, Combs has issued an apology for his actions. On Sunday, he posted a video discussing the incident and claiming to take responsibility for his actions.

“It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life. Sometimes you got to do that. I was f***** up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I'm disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I had to go into therapy. I'm going to go into rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man, he's in every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry.”

The incident occurred in 2016 and shows Combs kicking and beating Cassie before dragging her down the hallway.

The revelation prompted calls for the mogul’s arrest. However, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office stated that arresting him would not be possible due to the statute of limitations.

One day after hotel security footage of Sean "Diddy" Combs allegedly beating up then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was released, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office issued a statement confirming the rap artist is "unable" to be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations.

"We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles," the statement, released on Instagram, began. "We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch."

"If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted," the statement continues. "As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Services."

Combs paid a settlement of an undisclosed amount to Ventura shortly after she filed suit against him. He is still being investigated by federal authorities. In late March, agents with the Department of Homeland Security conducted raids on his homes in California and Florida as part of a human trafficking investigation.

Prosecutors in New York interviewed several individuals related to the allegations. During the raid, agents seized Combs' phones and computers. So far, no additional information about the raids has come to light.
