Report: House Committee Set to Investigate Sharp Rise in Chinese Illegal Immigration

In recent years we've seen a massive increase in the number of Chinese nationals entering the country illegally. As the border crisis continues, this trend has raised concerns about national security, especially the likelihood that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is exploiting America’s immigration problems.

A House committee is set to look into the drastic rise, according to an exclusive report from the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF).

The House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability will hold a hearing on Thursday concerning the roughly 8,000% increase in Chinese illegal immigration the U.S. has experienced since March 2021, as well as policies by border authorities that may have contributed to the spike, a committee spokesperson told the DCNF. The DCNF recently revealed an internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) email showing that the Biden administration dramatically simplified the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants in April 2023, which has increased the speed of Chinese illegal immigrants entering the country.

The CBP email directed Border Patrol agents to reduce the 40 questions they were required to ask Chinese illegal immigrants down to just five “basic questions” concerning their “Military Service,” “Universities,” “POB/Region,” “Employment” and “Political Party.”

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), who chairs the subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability, said the situation at the southern border “presents a ripe opportunity for the [Chinese Communist Party] to undermine our national security.”

He noted that investigations are even more necessary now that Border Patrol agents have been instructed to decrease vetting for Chinese nationals in order to process them into the country faster” and warned that the increase in their numbers “threatens our sovereignty.”

The increase in Chinese illegal immigration is an issue that is going largely overlooked. As indicated by the report, the Biden administration’s decision to make the process easier for Chinese individuals is likely driving the problem.

As if the oozing sore that is our southern border wasn't bad enough already, now we learn that the Biden Administration, in its usual display of fecklessness, has greatly watered down the vetting process for Chinese nationals entering the United States - illegally - across that southern border.

This scaling back of the interview process fast-tracked the releasing of Chinese illegal immigrants into the U.S. while making it more difficult for CBP agents to identify national security threats, J.J. Carrell, a retired CBP deputy patrol agent in charge, told the DCNF after reviewing the email.

“This policy change has accelerated the time it takes to process Chinese illegal immigrants — this doesn’t make America safer,” Carrell said. “The final result is that dangerous Chinese illegal immigrants will still be released into the U.S.”

“This is just the government covering their ass, so they can say they vetted,” said Carrell. “I believe the government recognizes the threat of Chinese soldiers and spies that are pouring into America, and they want to try and identify these individuals. However, the same government does not want to stop the flow of illegal aliens or Chinese nationals — just the ‘bad ones,’ which is impossible.”

The number of Chinese illegals crossing the border has become astounding.

When you think of the porous southern border, you think of Venezuelans, Mexicans, Africans, and other nationalities trying to cross into the United States. But there’s another group that has seen an explosion in the number of people attempting to get in—Chinese nationals. There were over 24,000 Chinese illegal immigrants intercepted by border authorities in 2023, which is more than have been nabbed in the preceding 10 years.

A House investigation into this issue seems warranted. But given the Biden administration’s preference for lax border policies, it likely won’t result in measures to curb the influx of Chinese nationals.
