In some ways, I almost feel sorry for leftists in the media. It can’t be easy to have to figure out how to defend President Joe Biden’s incompetence, especially when it concerns his age and cognitive problems.

In fact, Biden’s issues have become so pronounced that even Democrat-leaning media figures have thrown up their hands and admitted he has some serious problems instead of trying to spin them. However, it appears that former DNC Chair Donna Brazile has not given up just yet.

During a Sunday appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” she criticized how the media is covering the president, claiming that nobody is listening to him when he speaks on issues like the war in Gaza.

As the panel’s conversation progressed, the host noted that the president “doesn’t talk about the wars very often” and asked if he should change this. Brazile responded:

Absolutely. Not just in Israel, Ukraine. We have a superpower. He is the Commander-in-Chief. Absolutely. He should speak out more. Also, we should cover what he’s saying because often when he speaks, nobody listens.

For starters, the notion that the media does not sufficiently cover Biden’s many utterances on foreign policy and other issues is patently absurd. He gets more than enough coverage – which does not always work out to his benefit, given his tendency to drop gaffe after gaffe while trying to figure out how to get off the stage after giving a speech.

The issue isn’t that the media isn’t covering the president’s comments or that people are not listening. The issue is that people are listening, which is why they do not take him seriously.

Just last week, President Biden had a rather bizarre exchange with a reporter who asked whether he threatened to stop giving military aid to Israel.

REPORTER: "Did you threaten to stop military aid to Israel?"

BIDEN: "I asked them to do what they're doing."

*Biden shuffles away*

REPORTER: "Are you abandoning Israel!?"

This is only one video clip demonstrating why the public does not take Biden seriously. Additionally, the data continues to show that Americans have deep concerns about the president’s ability to do his job. A New York Times/Siena poll, whose findings were published last month, showed that a whopping 71 percent of respondents believe Biden is “just too old to be an effective president.”

As the presidential race continues, it will become ever more evident that Biden’s cognitive issues are no small matter. Because of the media’s coverage, it will become even more apparent that he is not all there mentally. In fact, if they truly wanted to do him a favor, they would cover him less so that the American public would not see Biden’s issues on full display. But, I suppose Brazile can continue clinging tenaciously to the hope that somehow more media coverage will help.
