Mayo Clinic Study Sheds Light on the Long-Term Impacts of Puberty Blockers on Youth

The folks who want to trans children aren’t going to like this one. Another study has revealed the dangers of subjecting children to “gender-affirming care,” especially when it comes to the use of puberty blockers.

This study is one of several disproving the leftist narrative about how best to treat children suffering from gender dysphoria. It reveals that using these treatments can cause significant harm to these individuals -- especially after they grow into adulthood.

The Mayo Clinic recently published the results of a preprint study outlining the impact of puberty blockers on the testicular health of boys diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Researchers discovered alarming evidence of testicular atrophy among those who undergo these treatments. Their findings also poke serious holes in the notion that puberty blocker treatments are reversible, one of the primary selling points medical professionals use to persuade parents to consent to having their children take puberty blockers.

The study identified significant alterations in spermatogonial stem cell states and functions due to the use of puberty blockers. “We report mild-to-severe sex gland atrophy in children treated with puberty blockers,” one of the lead researchers wrote.

In English, this means researchers found that the drugs can cause changes in the cells that are supposed to later grow into sperm. It could have a devastating impact on the boys’ ability to reproduce. Some of the changes included the shrinkage of and damage to the sex glands, where sperm is produced.

One of the subjects of the study was a 12-year-old patient who was using puberty blockers for 14 months. In his case, 59 percent of his sex glands showed complete atrophy and microlithiasis, which has been linked to testicular cancer.

Given these findings, it is not difficult to see why pushing puberty blockers onto children suffering from gender dysphoria is not the best approach. The health risks are immense and could cause irreversible harm to the child. The report explains: “This combined with the noted gland atrophy and abnormalities…raise a potential concern regarding the complete ‘reversibility’ and reproductive fitness.”

What makes these findings even more infuriating is the fact that the majority of children who deal with gender dysphoria end up growing out of it without the use of “gender-affirming care” treatments.

Researchers in the Netherlands collected data from 2,700 children beginning at age 11 until they turned 25. In doing so, they polled them on their level of discontent with their gender and found that a majority grew out of any confusion they were experiencing.

Results showed at the start of the research, around one-in-10 children (11 percent) expressed ‘gender non-contentedness’ to varying degrees.

But by age 25, just one-in-25 (4 percent) said they ‘often’ or ‘sometimes’ were discontent with their gender.

The researchers concluded: ‘The results of the current study might help adolescents to realize that it is normal to have some doubts about one’s identity and one’s gender identity during this age period and that this is also relatively common.’

What this means is that proponents of using puberty blockers, hormones, and surgical treatments are risking causing significant harm to children who would have otherwise grown into healthy adults without using these methods. Yet, medical professionals have still been terrifying parents into allowing their children to take these treatments by telling them their children will commit suicide if they decide differently. It is a sick, twisted, and evil practice.

Unfortunately, this matters not to those who stand to profit from the use of “gender-affirming care” on children. It can be quite a lucrative industry, which is why those participating in this devilish farce are so willing to ignore or downplay data showing that they are actively hurting children.
