Ever since the J6 riots, Democrats have been prattling on and on about the importance of safeguarding “democracy.” High-profile leftists excoriated Republicans and Trump supporters for supposedly posing threats to America’s democratic process of electing its leaders and lawmakers.
What the left did in Colorado lays bare a critical reality: Democrats are completely full of it.
For those who haven’t heard the news, Colorado’s Supreme Court on Tuesday voted to remove former President Donald Trump from the state's 2024 GOP presidential primary ballot using Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
This marks the first time in history that this provision has been leveraged in an effort to prevent a presidential candidate from seeking the White House. The court argued that Trump is disqualified from appearing on the ballot due to his supposed role in the J6 riot at the U.S. Capitol building.
In a major legal blow to Trump, the court affirmed he engaged in insurrection by inflaming his supporters with false claims of election fraud and directing them to the Capitol — preventing him from a second White House term under the 14th Amendment’s “insurrection clause.”
The court put its ruling on hold until Jan. 4, so Trump can first seek review from the Supreme Court. If he does, Trump’s name automatically remains on the ballot until the justices resolve the appeal.
“We do not reach these conclusions lightly,” the court wrote in a 4-3 decision. “We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach.”
The decision, which was made by justices who were all appointed by Democrat governors, has set a precedent that could lead to a fiery showdown in the U.S. Supreme Court, which previously declined to hear the case. (Three justices dissented from the decision.)
Trump’s team quickly clapped back, rightly pointing out that this was a ploy to influence the outcome of the upcoming election.
The Trump campaign team immediately fired off an email blasting the ruling as a political decision by a Democratic Court that was disenfranchising millions of voters as a result.
"Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice. Democrat Party leaders are in a state of paranoia over the growing, dominant lead President Trump has amassed in the polls. They have lost faith in the failed Biden presidency and are now doing everything they can to stop the American voters from throwing them out of office next November. The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and a concurrent request for a stay of this deeply undemocratic decision. We have full confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these unAmerican lawsuits.”
Democrats participating in this farce claim the move was necessary to protect the Constitution and the United States electoral process. Colorado’s Supreme Court issued its ruling by pretending that the former president participated in a rebellion against the United States government, which means that Section Three, which was intended for former members of the Confederacy, disqualifies Trump from holding office again.
But nobody with a set of eyes, ears, and a functioning brain actually believes this.
Trump has never even been charged with fomenting the riot at the Capitol building because, despite their claims, Democrats know he did no such thing. The entire effort to use the 14th Amendment to keep Trump off the ballot in multiple states is nothing more than a politically motivated effort to prevent the former president from running for the White House. Democrats seek to use the legal system to affect the outcome of the race, which means they are the ones who are disregarding “democracy.”
The left has essentially said “to hell with the will of the people” and decided to force Trump out of the race instead of letting voters decide whether he should become the president again. This is a clear example of election interference and shows how little Democrats care about the democratic process despite their claims to the contrary. At this point, we don’t need Russia or any other foreign entity to interfere in the election: Democrats are already doing it out in the open.
