Following the brutal attacks carried out against Israel by Hamas on October 7, there was deafening silence coming from the far left. Many of these individuals seemed hesitant to give strong denunciations of the terrorist organization or even to call on them to stop the assault.

Folks like Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and other members of “The Squad” waited until Israel decided to strike back to come out of the woodwork and call for a ceasefire. As RedState’s Bonchie noted earlier, Israel has essentially told those demanding that they stop their military offensive against Hamas to pound sand.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu further indicated that Israel would not stop its onslaught against the terrorist group until they were eradicated. During a press briefing, the prime minister discussed the “horrors” that the terrorist group inflicted on October 7.

He says: "The horrors that Hamas perpetrated on 7 October remind us that we will not realise the promise of a better future unless the civilised world are willing to fight the barbarians."

"The barbarians are willing to fight us."

He says Israel did not start the war but will win it, and adds that Hamas is part of the "axis of evil" Iran is forming.

Netanyahu went on to make it evident that there will be no ceasefire until Hamas is nothing more than a distant memory.

“Just as the US would not agree to a ceasefire after the bombing of Pearl Harbour or after the terrorist attack of 9/11, Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas after the horrific attacks of 7 October,” he says.

"Calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism," he says.

“The Bible says ‘there is a time for peace, and a time for war’,” he continues, “this is a time for a war”.

“A war for our common future. Today, we draw a line between the forces of civilisation and the forces of barbarism.”

The prime minister’s comments are sure to rankle some feathers on the hard left. Progressive lawmakers and media figures have repeated continued calls for Israel to stop attacking Hamas, accusing the country of committing “war crimes” that constitute “collective punishment” in which Palestinian civilians are being punished for the actions of the terrorist group.

Nobody wants to see civilians on either side of the conflict lose their lives or be otherwise harmed by the fighting. But those calling on Israel to halt its offensive against Hamas appear to live in fairyland, where everything just works out once Israel puts their guns away. The fact of the matter is that Hamas is a vicious terrorist group that has publicly stated that its goal is to eliminate the Jewish presence in Israel, and it is willing to sacrifice civilians in Gaza to do so.

In fact, Ismail Haniyeh, the group’s top dog, recently gave a speech on a Lebanese news outlet in which he declared that Hamas needs “the blood of women, children, and the elderly” in Gaza to inspire its operatives to continue the fight against Israel. In light of this, what sense would it make for Israel to halt its efforts to eliminate this organization? Anyone who wants peace in the Middle East, regardless of whether they favor the Israelis or the Palestinians, should be able to recognize that Hamas poses the greatest threat to peace because its only objective is to wage war against Israel.
