Trump Roasts FBI & DOJ for Concocting the Russia Collusion Hoax After Release of Durham’s Report

Special counsel John Durham has finally released his report outlining the findings of his investigation into the origins of one of the most insidious hoaxes the media and political actors have concocted in America’s recent history. The report found that the Intelligence Community and Justice Department engaged in some rather questionable conduct to perpetuate the myth that former President Donald Trump was colluding with the Russian government to steal the 2016 election.

Having been vindicated once again, the Orange Man What Is Bad™ slammed the FBI and other elements in the federal government who attempted to use their positions as state officials to attack him politically.

Trump expressed his astonishment on Truth Social, stating that Durham concluded that the FBI should never have initiated the Trump-Russia Probe. He wrote:

WOW! After extensive research, Special Counsel John Durham concludes the FBI never should have launched the Trump-Russia Probe! In other words, the American Public was scammed, just as it is being scammed right now by those who don’t want to see GREATNESS for AMERICA!

The investigation, known as Crossfire Hurricane, was launched by the FBI to examine Trump’s alleged contacts with the Russian government. Durham’s four-year probe found that there was no concrete evidence of collusion in the possession of the U.S. or the Intelligence Community at the beginning of Crossfire Hurricane. The report criticized the FBI for failing to adhere to the law and continuing the investigation despite knowledge of potentially contradictory intelligence. It also concluded that FBI agents displayed a predisposition to investigate Trump.

Durham’s investigation revealed a lack of analytical rigor and a tendency to rely on information from politically-affiliated sources, including Trump’s opponents. The report criticized former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe for their handling of the investigation. It also highlighted the fabrication of language in an email by Kevin Clinesmith, who pleaded guilty to a criminal offense.

The report further stated that the FBI personnel involved in the investigation displayed a cavalier attitude towards accuracy and completeness, disregarding important requirements and exculpatory information. Durham concluded that the FBI’s reliance on questionable information contributed to the initiation of the special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller.

The Mueller report, released in April 2019, found no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia. The report serves as a call to examine past conduct, identify shortcomings, and improve the government’s handling of sensitive functions.

In response to the Durham report, the FBI acknowledged the need for reforms following the launch of Crossfire Hurricane. The bureau stated that corrective actions had supposedly been implemented by current FBI leadership since 2016 and 2017, and if those reforms had been in place earlier, the missteps identified in the report could have been avoided.

This report is precisely what Trump needs at the moment. Just last week, a federal jury found the former president liable for sexual abuse and defamation against writer E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of raping her in a department store in the mid-1990s. He was ordered to pay $5 million. However, it was recently reported that his legal team plans to appeal the ruling, citing a tweet Carroll posted in 2012 in which she acknowledged being a “MASSIVE Apprentice fan,” a reference to a reality TV show Trump hosted.

The revelations from Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into the Trump-Russia probe could potentially provide a boost to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. The report’s findings that the FBI and Department of Justice failed to uphold their commitment to the law and displayed bias and a lack of analytical rigor could strengthen Trump’s claims of being a victim of a politically motivated investigation.

Trump has rightly criticized the probe as a “witch hunt” and argued that it was an attempt to undermine his presidency. The report’s conclusions may resonate with Trump’s supporters, who view him as a target of unfair treatment by government institutions. By highlighting these findings, Trump could seek to reinforce his image as a victim of a biased system and rally his base around the narrative of deep-seated corruption in the political establishment.

This is a narrative that the former president has used to great effect. Indeed, the strategy has worked because it has been apparent that Democrats were using the government to attack him politically. Given the politically-motivated attempt to prosecute him over the Stormy Daniels affair, Trump has much ammo to use in this regard.
