Another school district has been exposed for enacting a policy designed to violate parental rights. At least one parent is fighting back, but it appears this district is intent on encouraging children to “transition” to the opposite gender without the knowledge or consent of their parents.

The Chico Unified School Board in Chico, California, voted Wednesday evening to uphold its so-called “parental secrecy policy,” which says that school staff should not reveal a transgender student’s gender identity to their parents without the child’s permission.

The vote comes after the Center for American Liberty filed a lawsuit against the school district on behalf of Aurora Regino, a mother who accused a guidance counselor of helping her 11-year-old biological daughter transition to a male without the family’s knowledge.

Regino was present at the vote, explaining that she was there to “tell my story so that parents and the public know what is going on in our schools.”

“The day my daughter shared with her guidance counselor that she felt like a boy, the counselor immediately affirmed this new identity,” Regino said while addressing the school board.

“From then on, the counselor continued to have one-on-one meetings with my daughter without my knowledge. During one of those one-on-one meetings, my daughter told the counselor that she wanted to tell me about her new identity. The counselor ignored her request and did nothing to support her in letting me know what was going on at school.”

Another Fox News report published in February detailed how Regino found out that her fifth-grade daughter was identifying as a male named “Jaden” while attending classes. She was also “receiving school counseling on socially transitioning,” according to the report. Now, she is once again identifying as female.

This district is like many others in California and across the country that have adopted policies intended to allow teachers and school staff to help children dealing with gender dysphoria transition to the opposite sex. These policies empower educators to conceal their child’s choice to transition from their parents. They can even go so far as to actively deceive parents into believing all is normal.

This is part of a national effort to usurp parental rights. Proponents of this movement appear to believe that the government should have a more prominent role in educating and raising children than those who created them.

It is particularly unconscionable because this type of decision can have long-lasting and irreversible consequences for the child and their family. Parental involvement is crucial to ensure that the decision is made in the best interests of the child and that all possible risks and benefits are taken into account. Excluding parents from this process can undermine the parent-child relationship, lead to mistrust, and increase the risk of harm to the child, which seems to be precisely what the progressive crowd is aiming for. Therefore, it is crucial to involve parents in the decision-making process and ensure that their consent is obtained before proceeding with any gender transition. Unfortunately, the progressives pushing this trend don’t seem to care what parents think.
