CNN Panel Breaks All the Woke Rules When Discussing the Colorado Shooter

Democrats and members of the activist media have been placed in an awkward situation after the news broke that the person suspected of carrying out a mass shooting at a gay club in Colorado Spring identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.

Five seconds after the story broke, Democrats and members of the activist media immediately began claiming Andersen Aldrich, the alleged perpetrator, was some kind of wild-eyed, frothing at the mouth, white nationalist MAGA extremist who was motivated by the conservative movement to gun down as many LGBTQ folks as possible.

But after it was revealed that the alleged shooter identified as “non-binary,” it became apparent that the progressive narrative surrounding the attack might soon crumble like a house of cards. I jokingly surmised that this would cause progressive influencers to apologize for misgendering the gunperson (can’t use “gunman”).

But the opposite happened.

Indeed, this development did not deter CNN from making a valiant effort to spin the hell out of this story. Media activist Alisyn Camerota hosted a panel on Tuesday night with former politician Errol Louis, disgraced former Sen. Al Franken, and anti-Trump commentator Joe Walsh.

Each participant committed transgressions against the wokeism religion when they repeatedly misgendered Aldrich, referring to the individual as a “he.” They showed a reckless disregard for the suspect’s pronouns.

“I don’t know what to say about [Aldrich being non-binary]. I mean, that’s not anything that we had heard from his background. People have been looking into his background and I don’t know if anybody here…” Camerota said.

“His?” Come on, Alisyn. You know better than to misgender a member of the LGBTQ community, don’t you?

Lewis responded:

It sounds like they’re trying to prepare a defense against a hate crimes charge. That’s the least of his problems, legally speaking. But it looks like they’re trying to build some kind of sympathy or at least confusion on the question of whether or not this is purely motivated by hate.

Lewis’ comments raise an interesting and important question: Will the wokies come for him for using the wrong pronouns, or will he get a pass because he is a black man? My answer: Probably not, unless it is revealed that Aldrich is also Jewish.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist the Kanye reference.

What is also notable about this story is that not only were these people willing to misgender the alleged shooter, they even questioned whether Aldrich was actually non-binary in the first place. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to ask what would have happened if Tucker Carlson had dared to do either of these things, right?

But this exchange is illustrative of the fact that progressives are more than willing to toss their principles into a dumpster when it is politically expedient. After days of hoping the shooter was a Trump supporter, they are still doing everything they can to hold on to their precious narrative. Unfortunately for them, it seems more likely that they will be exposed as feckless liars once again.
