I am pleased as punch to inform you, dear reader, that a 100 percent effective cure to the COVID-19 pandemic has been discovered. After two years of fighting the deadly coronavirus, the Biden administration has revealed how one who is infected with the virus can protect themselves.
Apparently, COVID-19 cannot survive at the southern border.
Last week, I wrote about how the White House plans to lift Title 42, which allows border authorities to turn away and deport migrants from countries dealing with high rates of COVID infections. It applies to those attempting to gain asylum or sneak over the border illegally. In fact, since the program was employed under the Trump administration, about 1.7 million individuals were sent back to their home countries.
But according to this administration, the risk of COVID is no longer a thing.
Of course, there is another factor at play that raises certain questions. The White House has also decided it would extend mask mandates in airports and on airplanes again. This comes after it already extended the expiration date in March. It seems President Joe Biden thinks COVID is still active everywhere else — except the southern border.
Even Democrats are criticizing the president’s decision to lift Title 42. It doesn’t take a Ph.D in political science to see that making it easier for migrants to enter the country is not exactly the best political move. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema released a statement on Thursday criticizing the Biden administration for lifting the immigration measure, saying it should wait until they have a “firm, workable plan” to deal with the inevitable influx of migrants.
The lawmaker continued:
“The administration’s extension of public health emergency authorities proves the need to delay lifting Title 42 to protect the health and safety of Arizona communities and migrants. I’ll keep pushing for transparency and accountability from the administration to help secure the border, keep Arizona communities safe and ensure migrants are treated fairly and humanely.”
The Title 42 measure is set to end on May 23. The White House set the date in May ostensibly to allow border authorities to prepare for the swarm of migrants that will undoubtedly materialize at the southern border.
Sinema is not the only Democrat to push back against lifting Title 42. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said it was a “frightening decision.”
Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) also chimed in. “My trip to the southern border reinforced my concerns about the administration preemptively ending Title 42,” she said. “Border agents were very clear with me that the end of Title 42 will lead to a steep increase of attempted crossings that they will not be able to effectively handle because they don’t have enough resources.”
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) told reporters that America has a “crisis on our southern border.” He continued: “Title 42 was put in place because of a public health emergency. It shouldn’t be around forever, but right now this administration does not have a plan. I warned them about this months ago.”
Even far-left Sen. Raphael Warnock cautioned against lifting Title 42. He argued that “this is not the right time” for this decision and that he also had “not seen a detailed plan from the administration.”
But what none of these folks are admitting is that this is the plan. Biden and company don’t care about the surge at the border that his decision will cause. In fact, this is precisely what they want. It is the reason they caused the migrant crisis in the first place. After signaling that he would be rolling out the red carpet for migrants during the 2020 campaign, he rolled back former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies two seconds after he was sworn into office.
The situation at the border is what Democrats wanted. It is why they have done little to prevent or dissuade people from making the trek from Central America to the U.S. With Biden in office, these folks know they have a much better chance of getting into the country. The fact that this administration has reinstated “catch and release” has only compounded the problem.
Even when the GOP retakes the House and possibly the Senate, it won’t be easy to stop Biden’s open borders agenda. With this president in the White House, nothing substantive can be done to address this situation. The best America can hope for at this point is that a Republican defeats the Democratic contender for president in 2024. Otherwise, this foolishness will carry on even longer.
