Former President Donald Trump’s website has been permanently shut down after only being active for about a month. At this moment, it only exists to allow users to provide their email addresses and phone numbers to receive updates from Trump’s team.

This is not a case of Trump being stifled by Big Tech, however. Trump senior aide Jason Miller told The Hill that the former president’s blog will not be relaunched and referred to it as “auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on.”

Last month, Trump published the blog, which was called “From the Desk of Donald Trump.” Since Big Tech silenced him due to false claims that he incited the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol building, he had been using the site to communicate with his audience. Shortly after the blog was launched, his releases were being widely shared on social media and it seemed that this would be a primary form of communication for the former president, but over the next few weeks, its social media traffic decreased.

Last month, Facebook announced that its ban on Trump’s account would be upheld following a decision made by its supposedly independent Oversight Board, which also ruled that a permanent suspension was not warranted. It urged the social media company to review its decision and come up with a “proportionate response” within six months.

Twitter has already indicated that Trump’s ban is permanent even if he chooses to seek office again in 2024.

The Washington Post noted that the site had 159,000 social media interactions on the day it was launched. But the day after, interactions decreased to 30,000, then to 15,000.

It would be a mistake to assume that Trump doesn’t have something else up his sleeve. While Miller did not give a timeframe as to when he would make his next move, it seems clear that he will be making his presence known in a more significant way in the near future. Even before he launched his blog, some were speculating as to the platform he would use to reach his followers.

However, it appears that Miller may have already given us a hint.

Former Nevada GOP Chairwoman Amy Tarkanian tweeted at the aide, asking if this move “is a precursor to him joining another social media platform.”

Miller responded: “Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!”

Judging from this development, it seems that Trump will soon be back in full swing. The question remains: How will this impact the political scene going forward?
