California Celebrities Eviscerate Gov. Newsom Over Thanksgiving Restrictions

Well, it looks like things aren’t going so well for California Gov. Gavin Newsom as he tries to compete with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to see who can implement the most intrusive COVID-19 restrictions. Recently, Newsom issued a series of guidelines for Californian celebrating the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

California’s Department of Public Health had previously published guidelines governing social gatherings. These guidelines have been revised and now define gatherings as “social situations that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space or place.”

The order requires Californians to limit private get-togethers to no more than three households and to cap the duration at two hours. Hosts are supposed to ensure that guests only gather outdoors and observe social distancing and mask-wearing. Of course, chanting, singing, and shouting are strongly discouraged.

Apparently, not even the Golden State’s progressive elite are on board with Newsom’s requests. Actor Rob Schneider tweeted, “Dear Emperor@GavinNewsom, During our allotted 3 family limit this Thanksgiving, if my Aunt comes over, can I throw her a slice of turkey from the window? We promise NOT to sing… we will all just whisper. ‘PLEASE RECALL DIPS— GAVIN NEWSOM!’”

Actor Adam Baldwin posted a now-deleted tweet that called the restrictions “ridiculously unenforceable.” Former game show host Chuck Woolery surmised that Newsom has gone “bonkers.”

Nick Searcy also tweeted his defiance of Newsom’s orders. “We are having Thanksgiving at my house with a lot of people and@gavinnewsom can kiss my a** and bark at the hole,” he tweeted.

Comedian Adam Carolla asked, “How many of you sheep are going along with Newsom’s Thanksgiving protocols?”

It wasn’t only celebrities who balked at Newsom’s Thanksgiving guidelines. Many rank-and-file Californians stated that they would not be complying with the governor’s orders. Some of the restrictions include ridiculous suggestions such as:

“If you are at a gathering at a public park or other public space, and another gathering is nearby, people from one gathering cannot mix with people from the other gathering.

During the gathering, people from one household must always be six feet away from people from another household.

Attendees can go inside to use the restroom, but restrooms must be frequently sanitized.

Attendees must be from no more than three separate households.”

Newsom’s administration does not seem to have a way to enforce the restrictions his office published, so it seems unlikely that people will be abiding by the asinine suggestions. However, the fact that he would even make such ridiculous recommendations demonstrates his belief that government should have the ultimate sway over the lives of ordinary citizens. Unfortunately, the Californians who are willing to ignore authoritarian behavior like this will still vote for it when election season comes.
