ICE Releases 250 Immigrants With Violent Criminal Histories. The Reason Why Is Infuriating

In yet another story showing how much the open borders crowd cares about the safety of American citizens, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently announced that they released 250 immigrants with violent criminal histories into the general public. That’s right, dear reader. Hundreds of violent criminals are now walking free amongst the citizens of Southern California.

ICE’s announcement came one week after U.S. Judge Terry Hatter demanded that the agency either release or deport detainees as the Adelanto processing center to block to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 infections. The agency stated that “despite requests to transfer detainees to alternative locations,” it released these individuals from the facility.

According to Fox News, “Those released had histories of a variety of crimes, including assualt with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence, ‘lewd/lascivious acts with a child,’ child cruelty, illegal re-entry after removal, and other offenses.”

Tony H. Pham, the agency’s Senior Offical Performing the Duties of the Director, criticized the order, arguing that it endangers public safety. He accused the court of exceeding its authority.

“While opponents who continuously seek to discredit the agency might otherwise mislead the public to believe that those in detention pose no risk to public safety, nothing could be further from the truth,” he insisted. “ICE has complied with this overreaching court order; however, the public should know that the ruling undoubtedly places them at greater risk.”

This is only one example of California releasing inmates from prisons ostensibly to decrease the number of coronavirus infections in the state. The same trend continues in New York City, in which dozens of recently-released criminals committed new violent crimes.

According to ICE, over 85% of the nearly 730 immigrants at the Adelanto facility had pending criminal charges or convictions. At least 162 tested positive for the coronavirus. But the agency explained that it follows “an aggressive inspections program for its detention centers” and adhered to guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It restricted intake and administered ongoing testing the facility.

“As an added precautionary measure for communities,” ICE’s press release noted, “no detainee was released until officials established a high degree of certainty that they did not pose a COVID-19 public health risk.”

Of course, it is difficult to believe that a California judge would issue such an order to supposedly address the COVID-19 issue. If ICE was complying with CDC guidelines, there should not have been a problem.

The bottom line is that most of the state’s government is enthusiastically in support of open borders policies. It is for this reason that they have declared California a “sanctuary state,” that protects illegal immigrants — especially those who commit additional crimes after crossing the border.

The risk that the released migrants might victimized more people doesn’t seem to faze people like the judge who issued the order, just like Democratic lawmakers would rather avoid constituents who children have been killed by illegal immigrants. Stories like this further illustrate that the left cares more for those who violate our immigration laws than the citizens who could be victimized by them.
