In yet another embarrassing blunder that the corporate media will attempt to smooth over, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden stepped in it again. In a Thursday evening appearance on CNN, the former vice president showed a remarkable, but not surprising, lack of comprehension when it comes to recent news stories regarding the riots in Kenosha, Washington. 

Biden participated in a conversation with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper in which they discussed the violence occurring in Kenosha over the past few days. Riots and looting broke out after Jacob Blake, a black man, was shot seven times in the back by police officers responding to a 911 call.

During the interview, Cooper asked why President Donald Trump has not yet weighed in on the incident that left Blake paralyzed. “Well look, I don’t know enough to know whether that 17-year-old kid, exactly what he did. But allegedly, he’s part of a militia coming out of the state of Illinois. Have you ever heard this president say one negative thing about white supremacists?” Biden began. 

The former vice president continued, explaining that Trump’s handling of racial matters is why he is running. He said: 

“That’s the reason I got back in this race, because what happened in Charlottesville — people coming out of the woods carrying torches, their veins bulging. Close your eyes and remember what you saw. And a young woman gets killed resisting the hate and violence, and the president gets asked to comment on it. What’s he say? He says there are ‘very fine people on both sides.’”

It is clear from Biden’s response that he mixed up the shooting of Blake with an incident in which a 17-year-old boy shot three rioters who were trying to set fire to a car dealership, killing two of them. Kyle Rittenhouse, the gunman, was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder, although there are indications that he may have acted in self-defense. 

Despite the best efforts of the media, Biden continues to display signs of cognitive decline. His inability to get through an interview without falling into gaffes is apparent, and the Democrats are still attempting to distract from it. 

Perhaps Biden’s issues are the reason that the left is desperately trying to prevent the former vice president from having to participate in the presidential debates. It’s one thing to become befuddled during an interview with a friendly news outlet. It’s quite another to fall apart while a political pugilist like Trump is attacking your positions. 

Will the Democrats succeed in their efforts to keep the former vice president from leaving his basement? They just might, but that could cost him in November.
