Great news folks! The country band formerly known as the Dixie Chicks have destroyed American racism forever by engaging in one of the most astounding displays of virtue signaling we have witnessed in the world of music. 

The country trio, has decided to change the name of their group to “The Chicks” because racism and stuff. 

From The New York Times: 

“The platinum-selling country trio, which in 2003 became pariahs in Nashville for criticizing President George W. Bush on the eve of the American-led invasion of Iraq, has changed its name, apparently in tacit acknowledgment of criticism over its use of the word “Dixie,” a nostalgic nickname for the Civil War-era South.”

The band released a short statement on its website saying: “We want to meet this moment.” In totally unrelated news, the trio just released its new video, “March March,” which showcases protests which have occurred in America over its history, including demonstrations for gay rights, women’s rights, and Black Lives Matter. 

“The Chicks” are not the first country group to change their name. Lady Antebellum recently changed their name to the ostensibly less offensive “Lady A” in response to the protests. 

It appears that “The Chicks” are trying to do their part in the fight against racism and injustice. Or perhaps they’re just capitalizing on the current national focus on race to make a few bucks. 

Either way, this type of virtue signaling does nothing to move the conversation first, despite their intentions. Instead, they are simply engaging in the same type of empty virtue-signaling that progressives have done for decades. In the end, it amounts to nothing more than meaningless gestures designed more to make people feel righteous without having to actually do anything. 

But this is par for the course for the left, isn’t it? 

The Democratic Party has engaged in these types of displays for years, pretending to care, but not actually working to better the lives of black Americans in the cities they govern. While some might actually believe they are helping, they are only contributing to the problem by refusing to hold their own party accountable. Unfortunately, this trend will only continue until black Americans have a better option than the Democrats.
