During his Wednesday evening monologue, Fox News host Tucker Carlson revealed some interesting information related to the declassified memo on officials working under the Obama administration who received information in response to the “unmasking” requests on former Trump adviser Michael Flynn. He stated that “relevant information” was missing from the document, which could indicate some rather interesting developments in the near future.

Carlson stated that the missing information could signal charges against officials suspected of leaking the details of Flynn’s communications with a Russian envoy. “According to a knowledgeable source, a portion of the relevant information is missing from this latest document release,” he reported. “Now, that could be a sign that some evidence is now in the hands of a grand jury impaneled to consider charges against whoever did this.”

Carlson did give a caveat, explaining, “We don’t know that’s true, we certainly hope it is.”

Sixteen Obama-era officials submitted unmasking requests related to Lt. Gen. Flynn for the period spanning the 2016 election up until President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The list of names was a part of a memo that GOP senators released on Wednesday. The identities of those who made the requests are not yet known. Some of the sections on the list have been redacted.

Between January and February of 2017, unknown entities leaked classified information pertaining to Flynn’s interactions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. The sources of the leaks have not yet been publicly revealed.

U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was appointed by Attorney General William Barr to investigate the origin of the Russia collusion probe, is looking into the Flynn unmaskings and the leaks that followed. Durham’s investigation has been a criminal matter since October of last year, and it is expected that his probe will yield at least some indictments. If Carlson’s suspicions are accurate, it’s possible that Durham might be targeting the individuals responsible for the unmasking and leaks.

Unmasking occurs when intelligence agencies that are spying on foreigners incidentally capture communications with U.S. citizens. When the information that is gathered is shared with other governmental entities, the names of these citizens are typically concealed to protect their identities. But U.S. officials can request that the names be unmasked.

Republican lawmakers have stated that officials who previously worked under the Obama administration improperly unmasked individuals associated with Trump during the Russia investigation. Of course, Democratic members of Congress have asserted that revealing this information was justified.

As Carlson stated, the missing information could be a nothing burger. This case has been rather unpredictable, right? However, if the host’s suspicions are correct, it is yet another indicator that Durham’s investigation might result in arrests. But it seems appropriate to refrain from getting our hopes up. After all, the DOJ may have dropped charges against Flynn, but this doesn’t mean they are willing to punish bad actors, right?
