Team Trump Wants Apology From Mitt For Secretary of State; Mitt Should Tell Them To Shove It

Never underestimate the levels of which people can be sore winners. Donald Trump won, and he gets to choose his cabinet. Some of his choices are questionable, and some are solid. According to the latest news, Mitt Romney is leading the pack for Secretary of State.

Of course, some Trump malcontents are still angry about Mitt Romney coming out strong against Donald Trump during the campaign. Now there are whispers from some corners of the Trump transition that they want Romney to apologize to Trump in consideration for the Secretary of State spot.

Fox News is reporting that Donald Trump’s transition team wants Mitt Romney to publicly apologize for railing against the president-elect during the campaign.

According to Mediaite, a transition official told Fox’s Ed Henry that some in Trump’s inner circle want the former Massachusetts governor to apologize in order to be seriously considered for the secretary of State.
Trump is reportedly considering whether to pick Romney or former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the coveted cabinet position.

Giuliani is the preferred choice of Trump’s loyalists and grassroots supporters, while Romney is a favorite of establishment conservatives.

There is a small correction to be made here. Nobody in the “grassroots” wants Giulian as Secretary of State. Only those with brown noses for Trump want Giuliani.

Granted, this could be nonsense from Trump loyalists inside the transition who hate Romney looking for a way to get Mitt to pull himself out of the running. However, if it came from the top — i.e., Trump –, I hope Mitt Romney tells them to pound sand.

Trump can either choose people loyal to him, or he can choose the best people. To dangle the Secretary of State position in front of Romney with the condition of an apology is complete nonsense.
