Omar Mateen Had Concealed Carry License and Security License In Florida

Update: It is not actually known whether or not Mateen possessed a concealed carry license as that information is not public. The following was provided by Gregory Jarmon of South Florida Impact Investigations:

In the State of Florida, the class G statewide firearms license is required for Security Officers to work armed. It is not a concealed weapons license. CCWs are not public record in Florida and they do not post that information on their website. While it is possible that Marteen had a concealed weapons license, many G license holders apply for both at the same time, Mr. Caruso would have to file a request from the Department of Agriculture under Florida’s Sunshine Laws to find out.

More details are emerging about Omar Mateen, the suspected shooter in The Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

It is now confirmed that 50 people were killed and 53 injured during Mateen’s rampage and would be the single largest terror attack on US soil since 9/11.

Mateen, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida, according to Florida records has both a concealed carry license and a security officer license as well.

Please note that Florida does not require a license to own a firearm. People are referring to the license as a “firearms” license. It is actually a license for him to carry a concealed firearm.

More information on the attack can be found here and here.
