I have a legitimate concern about [mc_name name=’Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’C001076′ ] running for Speaker of the House.

Chaffetz was the Boehner lapdog who fired [mc_name name=’Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’M001187′ ] for daring to stand up to Speaker Boehner. That act, of course, started Meadows down the path that has led to the resignation of [mc_name name=’Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’B000589′ ].

If Chaffetz was so willing and eager to play lapdog for leadership, how would he behave as Speaker. It is very clear that Chaffetz repeatedly takes the side of leadership. He was not one of those who dared to defy Boehner privately or publicly at the beginning of 2015.

He relies on his frequent Fox News appearances to claim conservatives love him.

I’m more than a bit concerned that Chaffetz as Speaker may, like Boehner, decide he is one of us and therefore does not have to listen to us. That, after all, is what ultimately undid Boehner. But Chaffetz would be able to buy himself time and use Fox News appearance street cred to run roughshod over conservatives.

Again, this is the man who not only did not stand up to Boehner as a conservative, but punished those who did. Conservatives should take note of that fact.
