10 years ago I began the transition from law to politics and full time stewardship of this site. It was, in fact, two weeks before the birth of my first child ten years ago in August that I told my wife I was going to quit being a lawyer to be a full time blogger. It went over as well as you might imagine.
Ten years ago, had you asked me what RedState would look like a decade later, fully eleven years after it had started, I would not have said I would picture myself on stage with Presidential candidates at a RedState Gathering of the grassroots.
But one hundred days from today, that is exactly where I will find myself. We are 100 days from the RedState Gathering. The night of August 6th, 2015, we will convene in Atlanta, the city of the first RedState Gathering, and we will hear Joe Scarborough and consider the various candidates. We will have a kick off of sorts for Campaign 2016 that night.
Then, over the next two days, you and I and a bunch of politicians and candidates will get to know each other.
[mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ], Rick Perry, Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, [mc_name name=’Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’P000603′ ], [mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ], Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina and others will be able to share their vision for the country. You will get to hear them tell you what the country should look like after four years of one of them in the White House.
You’ll also hear from great leaders not on the 2016 Presidential ballot. Nikki Haley has, like [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ], been to every RedState Gathering. We’ve invited [mc_name name=’Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’B001283′ ] to come back. We’ve invited Pete Ricketts, the Governor of Nebraska, too. I’m hoping I get Ben Sasse and [mc_name name=’Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’L000577′ ] to come too. I’ve asked Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia if he’d be willing to take my usual role and welcome the crowd to his state.
It will be awesome. It will be exhausting. And it is all happening 100 days from today at the Intercontinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
