The Obama Administration is yet again delaying the employer mandate for businesses with 50 to 99 full time workers. The reason is the congressional budget office report.Page 124 of the report has this language:
Beginning in 2015, employers of 50 or more full-time equivalent workers that do not offer health insurance (or that offer health insurance that does not meet certain criteria) will generally pay a penalty . . . . Businesses … may respond to the employer penalty by seeking to reduce or limit their full-time staffing and to hire more part-time employees.
The delay will, not coincidentally, go until 2016 when it will no doubt be delayed again to save Hillary Clinton. In the meantime, the Democrats will seek to work with Republicans to restructure it. No doubt now that the Chamber of Commerce has said it’s willing to fix Obamacare, the Democrats think they can get it renegotiated with the Republicans. So this raises a bigger issue. The left is going all in on the idea that having people work is a bad thing. People should be able to stay home on the government dole, according to the left. This delay seems to be a rather public admission that the latest line from the Democrats will not save them in 2014.
