Michael Moore: White Guys Who Voted for Trump 'Are Not Good People....You Should Be Afraid of Them'

Filmmaker and activist Michael Moore sat for an interview with the Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi and podcaster/writer Katie Halper.  In the video below, the three discuss the Flint, Michigan water crisis. In April 2014, the city changed its water source and “officials failed to apply corrosion inhibitors to the water. As a result, lead from aging pipes leached into the water supply” causing thousands of children to be exposed to drinking water which contained high levels of lead. Moore explains that the government would have acted immediately if the victims had been white. Here’s what he had to say:

I can’t get around the racial explanation for this. Had these been white people with money, your self interest, if you were a government person in charge of this stuff, would be ‘I am going to get f***ed for this, because white people with money f**k you.’ And you’re going to act immediately. But black people, with no money, what’s gonna happen? I’m not saying they want black people poisoned. It’s like, okay, we’ve got some time, we’ll keep it quiet, we’ll figure this out. It’s not urgent. Why would it be urgent? They’re black.

Once again, his own racism and lack of self-awareness were on full display. And inevitably, he finds a way to tie the crisis to Trump. Moore continues:

I refuse to participate in post-racial America. I refuse to say because we elected Obama that suddenly that means everything is ok, white people have changed. White people have not changed.

Two-thirds of all white guys voted for Trump. That means anytime you see three white guys walking at you, down the street towards you, two of them voted for Trump. You need to move over to the other sidewalk because these are not good people that are walking toward you. You should be afraid of them.

And there are his hosts, nodding their heads in agreement. Boy, they really get it. They are so enlightened and we are so vile and contemptible.

Taibbi smiles and says, “And the third one probably says, ‘I’m thinking about voting for him, too.'”

The name of this podcast is “Useful Idiots,” which is actually quite appropriate, but not for the reasons they might think.

What Moore, Taibbi, and Halper seem to miss is that they and people who can relate to these statements are the cause of the problem. Is Moore not pre-judging people based on the color of their skin, which is the very definition of racism? Sure sounds like he is.
