Inspired by IG Horowitz’ conclusion that there was no “evidence of bias affecting any investigative decisions” in either the Clinton email or the Trump/Russia investigations, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page filed a lawsuit today against the Department of Justice and the FBI in U.S. District Court.

Page claims that, by “unlawfully” releasing text messages between she and fired FBI official Peter Strzok, her paramour at the time, the DOJ and the FBI violated the Privacy Act. The document can be viewed here.

She wants to “hold the DOJ and the FBI accountable for their unlawful disclosure of information about her to the media.” She claims the release of the text messages has “fueled unwanted media attention that has radically altered her day-to-day life.”

The lawsuit claims that the texts were released to “promote the false narrative that Plaintiff and others at the FBI were biased against President Trump, had conspired to undermine him, and otherwise had engaged in allegedly criminal acts, including treason.”

The false narrative? Remember the insurance policy?

Page is not out of the woods yet. As I wrote about James Comey last night, it’s a bit too soon to take a victory lap.

Poor little Lisa Page, the victim. Does she not see the outsize role she has played in her fall from grace? Page committed more than her fair share of unethical/possibly illegal acts when she conspired with her lover and several other top FBI officials to bring down a duly elected President. I think there are laws against that sort of thing.

She also played a major role in facilitating the application for the first FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page (whom Trump had never even met). Through her text message exchanges with Strzok, we learned that there was one DOJ official, a lawyer in the DOJ’s National Security Division, Stuart Evans, who was not quite on board with spying on a U.S. citizen in October 2016. Evans had  “continuing concerns” about “possible bias of the chs (confidential human source — a reference to Christopher Steele). Page told McCabe that this issue would be addressed with “a robust explanation.” How exactly did she “explain” to Evans that it was okay to lie a little on an application to the FISA Court for a warrant to spy on a man who had done nothing wrong. Look what happened to Carter Page’s life. It’s been turned upside down. Look at the damage she and her FBI pals have done to Trump’s presidency and to America, by extension. Look what they did to Michael Flynn.

But, it’s all about Lisa, isn’t it?

Page seeks damages of “not less than $1,000” in the lawsuit.
