CNN anchor S.E. Cupp, host of “S.E. Cupp: Unfiltered,” riled up the twittersphere this weekend by sending out the following tweet: “Remember when Bloomberg demanded a third term as mayor, and got it? Trump will do the same. Beware, the same autocratic impulses…”

Although there is no reasonable basis for people to worry about such a thing actually happening, from time to time, some random Democrat raises the issue. By definition, worrying if Trump will leave office when his second term is over assumes he will win a second term which most Democrats don’t want to even contemplate.
There have been a few articles written by Democrats who are concerned that he will not vacate the White House if he loses the election in 2020. In June, Politico published an article entitled “What if Trump Won’t Accept Defeat in 2020?” In October, a piece appeared on the website of New York Mag asking “How Worried Should Dems Be That Trump Won’t Concede?”
PJ Media’s Michael Van Der Galien commented on Cupp’s tweet. He wrote, “Instead of tweeting out nonsense about Trump, S.E. Cupp should stick to posting photos of herself on Instagram. Admittedly, that doesn’t add much to the debate either, but at least she doesn’t degrade it any further either.
I came across Cupp’s tweet on Glenn Reynold’s website, Instapundit. The caption on his post was “Journalism” and he correctly noted, “This sort of pronouncement might alarm the public, but since no one watches CNN except Republican pundits looking for material there’s not much danger.” He’s so right.
It’s not surprising that many of Cupp’s twitter followers disagreed with her.
One person asked, “What happened to you?”
Another answered, “She never actually believed what she said she did. One major thing Trump has done, is get folks to show their true colors.”
Someone pointed out that she really couldn’t compare the process for a New York City mayor to seek a third term vs. the process for a U.S. President. He wrote, “Getting the city council to override a referendum is just a little bit easier than getting 3/4 of the states to agree to a constitutional amendment.”
Here are a few more of their responses:
😁 Okay. Put down the alcohol and go to bed.
You lose credibility with comments like this.
The only President who did this was a progressive Democrat, but sure, go on.
He really hasn’t been given his first term, so a 3rd term would fix that.
I used to think you spoke for me as a conservative woman. It’s possible to not like Trump and still be aware of the incredible job he is doing, and resist the urge to be petty about it. I don’t want to hang with him, but I definitely want 4 more years.

Isn't it awesome how all of these "journalists" magically got mind reading powers, when @realDonaldTrump got elected, but couldn't fathom why @HillaryClinton would destroy blackberrys and wipe servers. pic.twitter.com/qm4RgCXkU0
