Joaquin Castro Accuses Trump Donors Of Fueling A Campaign Of Hate While He Fuels A Campaign Of Hate

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) is the twin brother and campaign manager for 2020 presidential candidate Julian Castro. In a rather hypocritical move, he tweeted a list of 44 San Antonians along with their employers, who donated the maximum amount allowed by law to the Trump campaign. He wrote:

Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump — the owner of ⁦@BillMillerBarBQ⁩, owner of the ⁦@HistoricPearl, realtor Phyllis Browning, etc⁩.

Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders.’

Castro is accusing Trump donors of fueling a campaign of hate while he fuels a campaign of hate. This is one of the most glaring examples of a Democratic double standard I’ve ever seen.

Castro has put the names and employers and or employment status of private citizens out on social media.

This didn’t sit well with the Trump campaign and it wasn’t long before they struck back at Castro for this move. Tim Murtaugh, the campaign’s director of communications shot back. He tweeted:

How low have Dems sunk?

This is Joaquin Castro, Congressman & chair of his brother’s campaign.

Naming private citizens & their employers, targeting them for political views and exercising 1st Amendment rights.

Should delete & apologize. Castro campaign should disavow.

Followed by this:

At the very least, @Castro4Congress is inviting harassment of these private citizens. At worst, he’s encouraging violence.

Will media concerned about ‘rhetoric’ care about this?

He’s listing people and their employers.

This is a target list.

A second Trump campaign official told Fox News that, “in this political climate, particularly at a time when Democrats are associating rhetoric with violence, it’s a pretty disgusting thing to do.”

If Joaquin was hoping to draw attention to his brother’s Julian Castro’s presidential campaign, he needn’t bother. He’s polling so low, he’ll have difficulty meeting the criteria necessary to qualify for the next Democratic debate.
