On his Friday night program, Sean Hannity played a clip of President Trump speaking to reporters earlier in the day. The news that Iran had seized two British oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz had just broken. A pretty significant story, wouldn’t you say?
Except that the media’s best and brightest had other more important issues on their minds.
Here is what they chose to ask the President.
1. “How would you feel if someone asked the First Lady to go back to her country? And what has she said to you about the chants, the tweets? About this entire episode?”
2. “Do you think, Mr President, that this political feud that you’re having with Congresswoman Omar and the rest of those Democrats that you mentioned is a good thing politically for you or do you think it turns people off?”
3. “Do you see not agreeing with you as the same thing as hating the country, sir?”
4. “Are you in favor of banning plastic straws?”
Hannity’s guests included Radio Host Sebastian Gorka and Washington Times columnist Charles Hurt.
Hannity said, “I’m just thinking maybe the Iranians seizing tankers on top of their previous hostilities and saber rattling might have taken precedence for just a second. No.”
Gorka said, “There’s a reason why you and Fox crush it…Yogi Bear reruns and HGTV are all more popular than Anderson Cooper 360. That’s why the fake news label stuck so well, because it is a fake news industry. God bless the President when he says they are the enemy of the people…In the Cold War, there was Pravda. This is Pravda!
“I don’t think they get their credibility back ever,” Hannity added, turning it over to Hurt:
I think you’re exactly right and we’ve always know that the so-called mainstream media leans a little left and they’re not so mainstream anymore by the way. They’re increasingly in the ghetto of the crazy left, over the cliff now. We’ve always known that they’d leaned to the left but what we’ve seen over the past two and a half years with this Russia coverage has been the most appalling thing I’ve ever witnessed. And I’ve worked for newspapers for 25 years and I’ve always understood that they were sort of left leaning, but what we have seen, the dishonesty, and the willingness to shrug off all pretenses of trying to cover somebody fairly in order to persecute a guy has been astonishing and I’ve lost so much respect for so many people that I once regarded.
The current headline on MSNBC’s website is:
Republicans Are Finally Panicking
and the lede:
“The president is capping a week of racist rhetoric by claiming he disagreed with the send her back chants that marked a portion of his rally in North Carolina. The panel discusses Trump’s remarks, GOP attempts to separate the party from the message.”
Enough said.
