Rep. Ilhan Omar stepped off a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport on Thursday and was welcomed ‘home’ by approximately 150 supporters. As she approached the crowd, they were singing/chanting, “We love you. We – we – we love you.” Echt!

Deeply moved by this display of solidarity, she told the enthusiastic crowd:

It’s good to be home.

The reality is everybody talks about how [Trump] is threatened because we criticize him. But the reality is he is threatened because we are inspiring people to dream about a country that recognizes our dignity and our humanity.

When I said that I was the hope of the United States, it’s because I embody what that hope should look like. And when I said I was the President’s nightmare, well you’re watching it now. Because his nightmare is seeing a Somali immigrant refugee rise to Congress.

His nightmare is seeing the beautiful mosaic fabric of our country welcome someone like me as their member of Congress. We are going to continue being a nightmare to this president because his policies are a nightmare to us.

Omar says Trump’s “nightmare is seeing a Somali immigrant refugee rise to Congress.” No, Congresswoman. The President’s disgust comes from hearing a women repeatedly denounce the country which made it possible for a Somali immigrant refugee to rise to Congress. Instead of gratitude, she feels only contempt for America.

She hates America and, now that she is in a position of power, she works to undermine this country and to transform it into a socialist republic.

She also hates Israel. Omar denies her openly anti-Semitic sentiments, but her comments and actions belie her disavowals. On Thursday, Omar co-sponsored a resolution which is a thinly disguised call for American support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East.

She also told the crowd gathered at the airport that, “We are going to continue being a nightmare to this president.”

I don’t doubt that for a minute. In fact, President Trump hopes you never stop trying, because you are playing right into his hands.
