Trey Gowdy: 'To Whoever Is Investigating This, Tell Them to Look for Emails Between Brennan and Comey in December 2016'

Not Happy

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) served as the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee until his retirement from Congress in January. Currently a Fox News contributor, Gowdy appeared on “The Hannity Show” last night to discuss the “investigation of the investigators.” He has seen all of the pertinent documents which were provided to the Gang of Eight, “including the FBI’s own assessment of whether Steele was reliable.” And last night, Gowdy sent a message to DOJ officials: “To whoever is investigating this: Tell them to look for emails between Brennan and Comey in December 2016.”

Here is someone who has been privy to this material telling investigators that the damning evidence exists and precisely where to find it.

Over the weekend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX), who are also familiar with the classified documents, made similar remarks.

Here is a clip from Gowdy’s conversation with Hannity: (Watch the video below.)

Gowdy: How did the FBI assess Christopher Steele? They have their own internal documents. Part of what Lindsey [Graham] wants to make public are their own FBI documents where they did their own assessment and I think you’ll be surprised as to whether or not they viewed Steele as being credible…They’re [Graham and Ratcliffe] talking about 302’s where an FBI informant [Christopher Steele] said he’d do anything in the world to make sure Donald Trump lost. That wasn’t a DNC employee. That was an FBI informant.

Hannity: Are you convinced that FBI agents, as well as the Attorney General at the time, Loretta Lynch, rigged Hillary Clinton’s investigation?

Gowdy: I am convinced that they handled that investigation in a way that I have never seen any other investigation handled before…

Hannity: 18 USC’s clear. If you have top-secret information on a private server, is that not a violation of the espionage act, a clear one?

Gowdy: If you handle it negligently, yes.

Hannity: Okay, well we know it was handled negligently. Would there be intention if you delete 33,000 subpoenaed emails, acid wash your hard drive with bleach bit, bust up your devices with hammers and pull out sim cards? Sir, you never lost a case. Would that be a good case for obstruction of justice, clear and convincing beyond any reasonable doubt?

Gowdy: It is fantastic evidence on the issue of intent which is what Comey said he didn’t have. It is consciousness of wrongdoing. It is knowledge. In addition to the multiple misstatements, the demonstrably false statement she made surrounding her handling of it.

Hannity: Are you convinced there was a fraud committed against the FISA Court?  Withholding that Hillary paid for that dossier and in fact, that the bulk of evidence was unverifiable, and that they never verified whether anything Steele wrote was true and did they do it to spy on the Trump campaign sir?

Gowdy: Sean, I can tell you it is even worse than what you describe. It is what you described in addition to the withholding of exculpatory information which is what has Johnny Ratcliffe so exercised. And they made no effort to corroborate the dossier until after it had been used for the application and a renewal. No effort. It’s not that they failed. They made no effort to do it. So whoever is investigating this, tell them to look for emails between Brennan and Comey in December 2016.

Hannity: Are you convinced that that phony Russian dossier, bought by Clinton, created by Steele, that used to lie to the FISA Court, are you convinced they tried to undo a duly elected president and take him down?

Gowdy: I’m just going on what Peter Strzok said. The lead agent in charge of investigating this said he thought Trump would be destabilizing, had an insurance policy, and then promised his over that we will stop it. So, you answer it.

Hannity: Well said.
