Nancy Pelosi: 'We Must Not Suppress the Votes of Newcomers to Our Country'

At an Austin, TX press conference this week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi invoked President Reagan’s farewell speech to make the case for increasing the number of immigrants allowed into the US and that above all, we must not suppress their votes. This is nothing more than a plan to ensure that Republicans win fewer and fewer elections until the time comes when it’s impossible for us to ever win again.

She spoke of Reagan’s vision of America as “a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.” Pelosi said:

We, in California, see people coming from a different direction, but the same welcome. You see them coming, many from the south, southern border, but it should be the same welcome.

[Reagan said] “The vital force of America’s preeminence in the world is every new generation of immigrants who come to our country. And when America fails to recognize that as our vital force, America will fail to be preeminent in the world.”

When we talk about newcomers, we have to recognize the constant reinvigoration of America that they are, that we all have been – our families. And that, unless you’re blessed to be Native American – which is a blessing in itself that we respect – but that constant reinvigoration of hope, determination, optimism, courage, to make the future better for the next generation, those are American traits.

And these newcomers make America more American. And we want them, when they come here, to be fully part of our system. And that means not suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America.

Thank you Nancy. What beautiful words.

Except that President Reagan had in mind a whole different type of immigrant. He envisioned people who were willing to work hard to achieve the American dream, who were eager to learn our language and to assimilate into our culture.

He could not have foreseen the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who arrive at our border each year knowing that once they set foot on American soil, they will be provided with shelter, food and medical care.

The vast majority of illegal migrants become economic parasites, adding to the burden of American taxpayers and stretching our limited safety nets.

As Pelosi speaks of the immorality of the wall, there’s a gleam in her eye because, instead of viewing the newcomers as welfare cases, she sees them as new Democratic voters.

According to Pew Research Center, by 2020, “1-in-10 U.S. voters will be foreign-born residents — a statistic that vastly favors Democrats.”

Breitbart’s John Binder assembled the data below to show how immigration affects the American electorate.

He cites a study by The Atlantic’s Ronald Brownstein which “revealed that nearly 90 percent of House Congressional districts with a foreign-born population above the national average were won by Democrats. This means that every congressional district with a foreign-born population exceeding roughly 14 percent had a 90 percent chance of being controlled by Democrats and only a ten percent chance of electing a Republican.” Binder reported:

Entire states, driven by legal immigration, have been transformed electorally, Brownstein’s analysis found.

For instance, Republicans hold about 30 Senate seats in the 20 U.S. states with the smallest foreign-born populations. Meanwhile, Democrats control 32 Senate seats in the 20 U.S. states with the largest share of foreign-born residents. Democrats are expected to target those remaining Republican Senate seats in states with large foreign-born populations in the 2020 election.

Brownstein also found:

The 2016 presidential election between then-candidate Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton revealed a similar trend. For example, among native-born Americans, Trump won 49 percent to Clinton’s 45 percent, according to exit polling data. Among foreign-born residents, Clinton dominated against Trump, garnering 64 percent of the immigrant population’s vote compared to Trump’s mere 31 percent.

Currently, the U.S. admits more than 1.2 legal immigrants annually, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million.

The U.S. is on track to import about 15 million new foreign-born voters in the next two decades should current legal immigration levels continue. Those 15 million new foreign-born voters include about eight million who will arrive in the country through chain migration, where newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country.

These statistics are frightening. In addition to the draining of the US treasury to pay for their most basic needs, the gang members who mix in with the others to cross, the vast quantities of drugs smuggled in which are killing young Americans, and the diseases they bring, these statistics offer a new reason to crack down on illegal immigration.

Nice try Nancy.
