Maybe they’re on to something. ICE has released 1,600 migrants into the El Paso, Texas area and city officials aren’t too happy about it. Not even a little bit. They warn of a looming ‘crisis.’ Officials told CBS News that charities and non-profits are being “strained.” CBS writes:

The incoming congresswoman of the Texas border city of El Paso is warning of an imminent ‘crisis’ as local officials and charities scramble to accommodate at least 1,600 migrants dropped off there by federal authorities in recent days.”

“We have these teams coming in to play in our Sun Bowl this weekend and the hotels are booked,” said incoming Democratic congresswoman Veronica Escobar. “We’re facing a real crisis coming up … to find places for all of these (migrant) families.”

In an official statement, ICE said they were “forced to release the migrants to comply with a federal “timeframe” dictating the duration a family could be detained by federal authorities.”

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Katie Wald told CBS that this situation is the result of decisions made by activist judges. She said:

We are living through an immigration crisis that is in part driven by a disastrous ruling by a district court judge in the Ninth Circuit that incentives illegal alien adults to put their children in the hands of smugglers and traffickers. The Flores Settlement Agreement has created an immigration loophole that rewards parents for bringing their children with them to the United States.

Escobar’s solution to the crisis?

The Trump administration must help El Paso by undertaking the short-term solution of investing in family-friendly holding facilities for migrants. This really is a federal obligation and the federal government needs to step in and build some temporary housing facilities, in the way that they did in 2016. That needs to happen immediately.

The long-term solution is to invest heavily in the “Northern Triangle” of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to curb the region’s widespread poverty and intensifying gang violence.

We need to work with Central America and make probably some significant investments there and hopefully, through good collaboration, find some solutions to the poverty and crime that are driving thousands and thousands of people from Central America into the United States.

She adds that she and her constituents will continue to welcome migrants.

As a community, we are going to do whatever we need to do to take care of these people. They are vulnerable. They deserve compassion. And help. And support. And El Pasoans always rise to that occasion.

I say ICE should continue releasing migrants into Democratic strongholds. Migrants should be released in large numbers into the home cities of Democratic officials such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer as well as those of activist judges responsible for such stupid decisions. Let them live with the consequences of their “compassionate” positions on illegal immigrants. Let their cities provide food and shelter and medical care for these poor people. Let them deal with the inevitable spikes in local crime rates, some of which will be violent crimes, and the return of diseases which have been largely eradicated in the US for decades.

It didn’t take long for the situation in Tijuana to overwhelm the local population and it likely won’t take long for most American cities to reach that point either. ICE began releasing migrants last Sunday and in only one week, the city is already requesting federal assistance. It won’t be long before the cost of a border wall seems like a small price to pay.
