Missouri Gun Grabbers Feeling The Heat

As I first reported earlier this week, four Missouri Democrats are leading the charge to confiscate semiautomatic firearms from law-abiding citizens. Missourians are outraged and now these lawmakers are taking heat for their actions.

Democratic Representatives Rory Ellinger of University City and Jill Schupp of Creve Coeur say they have been flooded with angry emails and calls, some with threatening tones. Some pro-gun websites are also displaying the cell phone numbers of the representatives.

The blatant disrespect these lawmakers have for their justifiably angry electorate is evident:

“They’re pretty diligent,” Ellinger told News 4 in his Jefferson City office. “They found my cell phone number, but I’m not going to let them push me around either.”

“They are rude, they are threatening, they are disrespectful,” said Representative Shupp. “I’m frankly very disappointed that people would call in to someone who is trying to get a discussion started and make threatening calls.

If these lawmakers would like to see “threatening” behavior, they can look to their colleagues in the north, Wisconsin state legislators who pledged solidarity with progressive groups that vandalized businesses and sent death threats to Republican lawmakers over Right To Work. While we shouldn’t allow disagreement to develop into threatening behavior, nor should we call private numbers (all numbers I’ve seen published online are publicly-available office numbers for constituents) we also must not allow these state lawmakers to obfuscate the real story, which is the disrespect they bear for their constituents with their attempt to limit their Second Amendment rights. If these lawmakers demand courtesy from their constituents, they can first demonstrate it with responsible legislative action and proper representation.

If you haven’t yet civilly contacted these state representatives to express your displeasure at their deliberate circumvention of  the Second Amendment, you can do so here:
