Time for Eric Cantor to Put Up or Shut Up

It is now safe to say that Eric Cantor wins the award for the most dishonest campaign of the election cycle.  And given the fact that every establishment candidate has run a campaign based on distorting their own record or issue positions, that is saying a lot.

After sending out a series of shockingly dishonest mailers and appallingly deceitful TV ads, Cantor blasted out an email last week accusing his primary opponent, Dave Brat, of having the support of “a liberal pro-amnesty group.”

You literally can’t make this stuff up.

After travelling the country with Luis Gutiérrez pushing the Dream Act – the very amnesty bill that has spawned the new border crisis – Gutiérrez decided to do Cantor a favor by leading a protest of illegals against him in Richmond.  This kabuki dance had the effect of portraying Cantor as tough on the border so he can win reelection and work with Luis to pass amnesty.  Evidently, the fact that Casa de Virginia rallied against Cantor is proof that the illegals support Dave Brat, according to the logic of his campaign!

There is only one way to put an end to this chicanery.  We are all for accepting converts to our cause of national sovereignty and enforcement of immigration laws.  There is nothing better for our cause than having someone with as much power as Cantor fighting for us.  If he is really to the right of Dave Brat on the issue, he should put his mouth where his money is and pledge not to bring any amnesty bill to the floor as Majority Leader or Speaker.  We can end the games right now.  If he really is the man he professes to be in his mailers, it’s time for him to commit to fighting Obama’s lawlessness and to eschew all and any legalization bill as long as Obama is in the White House.

If you don’t feel like holding your breath waiting for Cantor’s pledge, you can help Dave Brat make the pledge for him.
