The recent impeachment trial of President Trump, particularly the Question and Answer period, has convinced this writer that Democrats are an alien species whose reasoning is simply incompatible with the rest of us humans.  Leaving aside people like Adam Schiff (check out the eyes…alien) and Jerry Nadler (check out the girth…alien), perhaps the strangest of the lot was New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.  Not known as the sharpest knife in the drawer, he proved that adage when he appeared as one of the House managers in the impeachment trial.

A check of his Wikipedia page tells us this guy graduated from law school.  Obviously the recipient of healthy dose of affirmative action, the esteemed Mr. Jeffries managed to quote Biggie Smalls, a/k/a The Notorious B.I.G, a/k/a Christopher Wallace, a gangsta rapper from Brooklyn who was killed in classic gangsta rapper style- a drive-by shooting in LA.  But that was not his best “shining moment.”

That came during the question and answer period known as the borefest.  Responding to a question from Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Jeffries was asked about the salacious Steele dossier.  The question noted that Hillary Clinton’s campaign hired Christopher Steele (a former British spy) to work with contacts abroad to compile the dossier.  Jeffries responded with what can only be described as new legal principle.  These are his exact words:

The analogy is not applicable to the present situation because first, to the extent that opposition research was obtained, it was opposition research that was purchased…

By that reasoning, if one pays a prostitute, then there is no crime.  But if you obtain sexual favors by deceit and guile, it is a crime.

Jeffries also inadvertently had confessed that Hillary Clinton violated 52 US Code, Section 30121 which is titled, “Contributions and donations by foreign nationals” and it has that little phrase “thing of value.”  Color me silly (or human) but once money exchanges hands, the “thing” inherently has “value.”  Maybe Jeffries went to the AOC School of Economics.  Even if the person who bought it is a chump and the thing is a pack of lies (or Russian disinformation), the transaction itself sets the “value.”  And Jeffries graduated from law school?

In the eyes of Jeffries all was well and good.  But to summarize: Hillary hired a law firm that hired a consulting firm that hired a British spy to talk to Russian spies and then give that to Obama’s DOJ who lied about whether they’d verified anything in it to the FISA Court.  I forgot to include that the former foreign spy paid the Russian spies.  So a follow-up question to Jeffries would have been if Trump paid Zelensky for dirt on Biden, would that then not be a crime under the reasoning of Jeffries?  Or maybe he should have answered the question, “Because it’s Hillary, it’s legal, so shut up!”

In the strange world of the Democrats a video-documented instance of Joe Biden where he describes his extortion of Ukraine does not create an indictable offense.  But a Republican President looking into this crime creates an impeachable offense.  This is not the behavior of people who deserve any position of leadership in this country.

One is left with only two conclusions.  First, the Democrats know how to do these shady things and get away with it while Republicans cannot get away with doing nothing.  Second, Nadler, Schiff and Jeffries really are pod people from an alien civilization and one that is not all that advanced intellectually.

But at least we now know, thanks to the esteemed Congressman from New York, Hakeem Jeffries, that if any presidential candidate pays for opposition from a foreign source, it is not an impeachable offense.  Hell… it ain’t even a crime.  Just toss out 52 U.S. Code, Section 30121.  The Jeffries Doctrine is the new standard.
