There’s a lot to unpack with this latest goat rodeo purporting to be a funding extension. My fellow RedStaters will no doubt do another awesome job in digging out all the nuances. The one I’d like to focus on, is an unintended likely intended consequence, the actual encouragement of human trafficking of children.

We can all assume that the leftists’ primary objective in the immigration debate, is to change the U.S. voting demographic. To that end, they are all in for importing as many low skill, uneducated folks from 3rd World countries to add to their voting block of low wage workers and those dependent on taxpayer-supported largess.

This latest legislation does much more than that and does so via two “poison pills,” as National Review puts it.

The second poison pill is even worse. Section 224 states:
None of the funds provided by this act…may be used by the Secretary of Homeland Security to place in detention, remove, refer for a decision whether to initiate removal proceedings, or initiate removal proceedings against a sponsor, potential sponsor, or member of a household of a sponsor or potential sponsor of an unaccompanied alien child.
In other words, this would mean that ICE cannot detain or remove anyone who has effectively any relationship with an “unaccompanied” minor — either because they’re sponsors, in the same household as sponsors, or even just “potential sponsors” (or in the household of potential sponsors!) of such a child.

There’s already a huge incentive to bring a child with you if you’re planning to infiltrate the border, because kids can’t be held more than 20 days, according to the Flores Agreement and we don’t separate parents from kids, so if you sneak across with a kid in tow, you’re released into the U.S.

The new provision would create an incentive for illegal aliens already here to order up kids from Central America as human shields against deportation. After all, 80 percent of the sponsors of unaccompanied children are in the country illegally in the first place — usually parents or other relatives paying criminal gangs to bring the kids to the U.S., knowing that the likelihood that they’ll be repatriated is virtually nil.

We’ve already seen an increase in children being brought along in the so-called “caravans,” in order to help achieve easier entry into the U.S. Does anyone think hardened cartel operatives or MS-13 members would shy away from using children as anti-deportation shields? Taking it several degrees further, how reluctant would either of the two groups be to kidnap or “purchase” young kids for the purpose of gaining U.S. entry? Following that, and perhaps as an added benefit, selling said children into slavery or worse, dumping their bodies somewhere once they’ve served their purpose.

The leftists will stop at nothing to garner more and more power — power to ultimately control every aspect of our lives. Please take the time to read about other egregious aspects of this bill as my fellow RedStaters unpack all its hidden “gems.”

Final note: Some may have thought I mistyped “intended,” as opposed to “unintended,” above. I initially did, thinking not to attribute to malice, what mere stupidity might explain. Given recent Democrat support for post-birth abortion, commonly known as, “infanticide,” I thought perhaps maybe I’m giving them too much credit. After all, they really don’t care for children, except as a political cudgel. They are perfectly happy to see them die in the desert, or on the operating table, as long as it supports their political ends.
