Deflection & Lies, the Democrat Response

As has been the case since 1966, the party out of Presidential office has offered a rebuttal to the President’s State of the Union Speech before a Joint Session of Congress. This year’s Democrat rebuttal was more of their same false-to-fact talking points.

For their spokesperson, the Democrats for some reason picked failed Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate, Stacey Abrams. Why they would offer a failed candidate with debt and IRS issues a national platform is anyone’s guess.

Although Ms Abrams did present well, coming across at least on the surface as a reasonable political opponent, her speech was less than honest. Put more bluntly, like the rest of the leftist tribe, when they cannot win on the facts, they either deflect or they lie. In this particular case, Ms Abrams chose the latter.

No less than FactCheck.org called her out on her falsehoods remarking that she had, “presented a distorted picture of the U.S. economy.” From the article:

Stacey Abrams, in the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, presented a distorted picture of the U.S. economy since the Republican-backed tax bill became law.
“The Republican tax bill rigged the system against working people,” said Abrams, a former Georgia state legislator wholistic her bid to become governor last year. “Rather than bringing back jobs, plants are closing, layoffs are looming, and wages struggle to keep pace with the actual cost of living.”
It’s true that some manufacturing companies in the U.S.,such as General Motors, have recently announced plant closures and employee layoffs. But, overall, both total employment and manufacturing employment are up since Trump took office in January 2017, and since he signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law in December 2017.

Although the article did call out some specific administration accomplishments, it didn’t fully rebut Abrams’ position that the Trump economy was bad, especially for women and minorities.

Nowhere did it mention that key and historic Democrat constituencies, were particularly helped by the Trump Economy. Black unemployment, lowest in history. Latino unemployment, lowest in decades. Women in the workforce, highest point in decades. Of course, the one thing the leftists are terrified of, is that their core constituencies find out that a Republican, Donald Trump, has accomplished more on their behalf than Democrats ever have—and in only two years.
