This morning begins the nomination hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Although it’s highly likely that Judge Barrett will be confirmed by the committee and the full Senate, nonetheless, the Democrats have promised they will make this confirmation hearing anything but routine.

Several Democrat members of the Judiciary Commitee announced ON THE DAY Coney Barrett was announced that they were opposing her nomination:

“I will continue to fight on behalf of the people and strongly oppose the president’s nomination.” – Senator Kamala Harris

 “I will oppose the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett… I refuse to treat this process as legitimate and will not meet with Judge Barrett.” – Senator Richard Blumenthal

“I will not support the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett…” – Senator Mazie Hirono

 “[Judge Barrett’s] record and her words make clear exactly what she will do on the court, and it’s unacceptable to me and the vast majority of the American people. … The Supreme Court is facing a crisis of legitimacy… This crisis will be further deepened if they succeed in confirming a justice…” – Senator Cory Booker

They have attacked her faith, her committment to her seven children and even her womanhood for being a strong opponent of legalized infanticide or abortion. Judge Barrett’s confirmation should give the court a 6-3 conservative majority for at least a generation.

Last weekend, my radio partner and I had the opportunity to interview Texas’ junior senator and Judiciary Committee member Ted Cruz about his new book, “One Vote Away: How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History”

Senator Cruz is of course well qualified to speak on this issue. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Cruz clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and became the youngest and longest-serving solicitor general in Texas history.

Cruz  has personally argued before the Supreme Court many important cases from the last twenty years and he’s on President Trump’s short list of potential SCOTUS nominees.

The Senator revealed to us that he wrote his book “on his couch” in March after his self imposed COVID 19 quarantine. Never did he imagine just six months later the relevance of this book after the recent passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In our interview, we touched on these cases and discussed the Democrats’ plans of “packing the Supreme Court” and adding Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia as states to solidify their power for years.

The Democrats are promising to contest next month’s election if they come up short. Failed 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton has declared that Biden should not concede if the election is close. The stakes have never been higher.
