Investigations Reveal Deep State's Effort to Protect President Obama's Legacy

The FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server where she illegally stored classified documents, (but didn’t do it intentionally according to former FBI Director Comeyand the Justice Department’s recently concluded Inspector General’s report exonerating the FBI of bias in its botched investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign are similar in a couple of respects.

The obvious similarity is there seem to be two levels of justice in America. One level for the powerful elite, politically connected who are entrenched in the Deep State. And unfortunately a second tier for the rest of us.

A second similarity seems to be an attempt by the Deep State, and the mainstream media, to seriously downplay these investigations which could potentially expose former President Barack Obama and his Administration’s cover-ups and other malfeasance.

The media has loyally played its lapdog role by continuing to perpetuate the Obama Administration’s discredited myth that it was “scandal-free’ even though there are at least three examples that arguably counter this myth.

One example was the FBI’s “Operation Fast and Furious” gun-running scheme that ultimately ended up arming Mexican drug lords. Or, the IRS scandal which delayed non-profit status for conservative-leaning political organizations during an important off-year election.

A third major example of scandal in the Obama Administration goes back to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server that was stored in a bathroom closet. President Obama told the American people he learned of Clinton’s private server in “news reports”  just like the rest of us.

We later learned, that not only did the President know about Clinton’s private email server, he was, in fact, emailing her while using a pseudonym. The President brazenly lied to the American people.

Fast forward three-and-a-half years to this week’s Inspector General report and we can still see the media and the Deep State protecting former President Obama’s “scandal-free administration” legacy.

Before the Inspector General’s report was released, I found it implausible that the President of the United States was unaware of an FBI investigation into the Trump campaign. Especially when you consider the bad blood between Trump and Obama. The IG report revealed I was correct:

“When we asked Comey about meetings with the White House concerning Crossfire Hurricane, he said that although he did not brief the White House about the investigation, he did mention to President Obama and others at a meeting in the Situation Room that the FBI was trying to determine whether any U.S. person had worked with the Russians in their efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. election. Comey said he thought it was important that the President know the nature of the FBI’s efforts without providing any specifics. Comey said although he did not recall exactly what he said, he may have said there were four individuals with ‘some association or connection to the Trump campaign.’ Comey stated that after he provided this information, no one at the meeting responded or followed up with any questions. Comey did not recall specifically when this meeting took place, but believed it may have been in August 2016.”

The IG report found 17 serious mistakes the FBI made in their applications for surveillance warrants. In my humble opinion, those 17 mistakes invalidate the warrants and the investigation. How many court cases in regular courts have been dismissed because of improper warrants or the illegal gathering of evidence?

Inspector General Horowitz said in his House testimony

“Experienced federal investigators should have known not to make such mistakes. I think it’s fair for people to …look at all these 17 events and wonder how it could be pure incompetence.”

While the IG asked a fair question, he completely passed the buck with his conclusion of no political bias. If you look deeper within his statement, the IG said there was no written proof of bias by the principals he interviewed. The principals also didn’t verbally admit to any bias. Should we have expected any different?

Attorney General William Barr has appointed a special prosecutor to look further into the FBI’s investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign. Special prosecutor John Durham released a statement after the IG’s testimony disagreeing with the IG’s testimony:

“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff.  However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.  Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.”

There are reports a criminal case will be filed against the Justice Department lawyer who fraudulently changed a FISA warrant. Let’s just hope that a low-level staff attorney doesn’t fall on the sword to protect his superiors – including former President Barack Obama.
