Louisiana doesn’t do everything right. Senator Bill Cassidy remaining in office is a clear depiction of that. In light of the insane protests we’ve seen from the far left over the past week (the same far left that has been fighting to keep illegal aliens from deportation), the Louisiana Freedom Caucus sent out a strong reminder to citizens of the state—essentially reminding them that if they feel threatened by protestors while in their car, they can legally run them over.
In a post on X, the Louisiana Freedom Caucus had this to say:
“YOUR RIGHT TO SELF-DEFENSE IS NON-NEGOTIABLE! If violent protests block LA roads and you fear for your life, you have a right to escape in your vehicle without civil or criminal liability. Protests expected June 14 in LA cities. Stay safe.”
Within an accompanying press release, the LAFC stated:
“In response to growing concerns over public safety and road-blocking incidents in violent protests around the country, the Louisiana Freedom Caucus (LAFC) reminds citizens of their right to self-defense under Louisiana law - both civilly and criminally — when faced with imminent danger on public roads.”
What a great reminder for Louisiana drivers. Threatening protestors will not be tolerated. Just this week in New York City, we saw a video of smug protesters blocking a black female from getting to work on time—when confronted directly, the protesters laughed. While these protesters were non-violent, the message is clear: blue states need to do more to protect their citizens from these left-wing nut jobs.

While we all agree on the importance of free speech, the question becomes, what happens when you interrupt the daily lives of Americans who could lose their jobs or have real-life repercussions from these protests?
Louisiana State Representative Jay Gallé, who authored the legislation, added this statement:
Louisiana will not tolerate lawlessness nor threats to personal safety. We passed this law so innocent people would not be punished for seeking safety and self-defense. We all have a fundamental right to protect ourselves and our families, and this piece of legislation protects that right without fear of being sued, and without fear of prosecution.

Left-wing protesters have historically worked to disrupt society to bring attention to their ridiculous pet projects—of course, many of these protesters are paid to bring this chaos upon us, while simultaneously being let off the hook by blue state attorneys general. The Trump administration is sending a serious message to these activists. A new sheriff is in town, and you will be prosecuted under the full extent of the law. As the crackdown continues, it will be interesting to track if we see fewer and fewer of these types of disruptions. I’d hate to see George Soros have to raise his price tag to get protesters on the streets.
This reminder from the Louisiana Freedom Caucus is a timely one. Now, red states are one step away from where they need to be—allowing citizens to run over protestors blocking highways for any reason.
Editor's Note: President Trump isn't going to allow lawlessness to reign in America. We will not have a repeat of 2020's "Summer of Love."
