Something is happening in the culture that, I think, is causing absolute chaos in the best way.

The arrival of artificial intelligence has had an enormous effect on society, and like anything that creates massive change, there have been both good and bad aspects to it. For instance, I'm constantly impressed by its use by people to wage cultural war against the establishment, and what's funny is that the establishment — whatever establishment is in relation to said battle — cannot keep up.

I think of all the establishments at risk from AI; the legacy entertainment industry is chief among them. It cannot compete with the virality and creativity of the people, despite all its experts, professionals, financial avenues, and control over the big platforms.

A solid example of this is a character that recently sprung up out of nowhere and has been going so viral that the U.S. Government even recognized her existence on Tuesday.

I've spoken about her before on RedState. She's popularly known as "Malfoid," a female version of the "Draco Malfoy" character from the Harry Potter series. The interesting thing about this character is that, despite being a fan-fiction rewrite of a character meant to follow the enemies-to-lovers arc and reframe the story of Harry Potter around this relationship, it wasn't written by women. It was written almost entirely by men.

Hilariously, many men online defend this Malfoid character as if she were real, and that includes coming down on OnlyFans creators for trying to cosplay as her sexually. She's even defended from elements of the Left, with any attempt to paint her as trans or LGBT immediately being dogpiled and shot down through mocking posts and memes of her burning the transgender flag.

Some have even begun using her in memes with Donald Trump.

The interesting thing about this is that it's mostly done with AI, and it's being done at a time when Harry Potter lore is being rewritten to be more "modern." The people have effectively wrested a portion of control of the Harry Potter franchise using AI-created images and video, all without any official licensing or permission. The people have become, in effect, co-authors.

Now, understand that not every single AI-assisted rewrite is going to have the same power as Malfoid, but it does open up a door that I imagine wasn't expected. I don't think these establishments thought people would come together like this, but they are. So now the question becomes: how often will this happen?

My prediction? A lot.

Let's fast-forward to the release of Harry Potter's HBO series. We know they've cast a black Snape and will likely include a few more things that reinforce leftist stereotypes, such as the "Dumbledore is gay" addition made by J.K. Rowling herself after the series was done. With the power of AI, people can go back into these scenes, refit the characters to be more book-accurate, eliminate any woke intrusions, and release it on various platforms as "parody."

These will become heavily trafficked versions, likely to the point where people skip the "official" releases altogether and wait for the "fixed" versions that used AI to correct the errors.

I imagine there will be attempts at legal action, and these versions will be taken down on whichever platform they pop up on, which will likely then result in another age of digital piracy. Either way, Hollywood loses. It loses credibility, it loses viewers, and most importantly, it loses money. AI will effectively have created a peer-to-peer market of content that features both original works as well as corrected Hollywood versions of films and television shows.

The only way Hollywood gets around this is by creating solid, well-made, and accurate films that don't push any ideologically focused agendas. At this time, that's like asking a pig to fly.

Do I think Hollywood studios will disappear entirely? No, but I do see them being severely reduced and made increasingly irrelevant under the weight of regular people using AI.
