Abortion is one of the ultimate evils of our modern era. It has become clear that, for many leftists, feminists, and radical ideologues, “safe, legal, and rare” was never the endpoint. At its most extreme, that rhetoric has moved beyond defending abortion in the womb to rationalizing the killing of children outside it when the burdens of motherhood are framed as an intolerable interference with a woman’s “freedom.”
But there is another kind of murder that doesn't involve taking the life of the child, but taking the child's own freedom to be themselves.
In a video from a speech given by actress Camryn Manheim during an event by the Human Rights Campaign, Manheim practically lamented on stage that her son never became gay despite her best efforts to groom him to be so. She says that "Gay sons are the best," and even expressed jealousy toward a friend who does have a gay son, and detailed a story about when an Amazon package came to the friend's house that contained kinky thigh-high red boots.

This is a pretty gross thing to hear, especially if you're her son who had to listen to his mother being disappointed that he didn't come out wanting to have homosexual relationships like she'd wanted. That, despite dressing him up in girls' clothes and urging him to find boys attractive, he did the wrong thing instead and desired women.
The streamer Asmongold had a short commentary video on this that I thought really highlighted just how sinister this kind of sentiment actually is, and I think it's worth the short watch. Not only does he highlight, through Norm McDonald, how the pride of having a gay son eclipses any real accomplishments — as being gay isn't really an accomplishment at all — but also that having a child in the LGBTQ+ community is really just the latest trend in a long line of trends that prove you "belong" to the cool kids' club, or whatever they consider the group they want to belong to.
As Asmongold points out, having a transgender child has replaced adopting children from African countries, which was the way to prove your "virtue" to the "virtuous" during the 90s and early aughts.
While I would say that killing your child is the ultimate cruelty, the cruelty of robbing them of their agency in order to become a prop for your beliefs is a different kind of cruelty that could compete with death. It is, itself, a kind of death, after all, of whoever that child would've been if raised to be an independent thinker with their own personalities embraced and their quirks loved naturally, is destroyed. Instead, it is replaced by the pressure to please the parent's own preferences, and in this case, the parents' preference is to please their peers.
It's just another kind of sacrificing of a child, but instead of burning them on an altar to Moloch, the altar is a socio-political one. Same god, different means of giving them to him.
The child stops being a person and starts being an accessory, on par with the latest handbag from Prada and Louboutin shoes. You wheel the child out in front of cameras and strut them down red carpets to show your dedication to the body politic. You tell TMZ where you and your children are going to be so that you can get snapshots taken of your "progressiveness" and later receive applause and back pats from your peers for your dedication to the cause du jour.
But behind the camera flashes and adoration is a dead child. A personality that was killed off so that the parent could virtue signal. Whatever they would've been, whatever future they would've had, whatever accomplishments they would've achieved are all buried. They mean nothing to the parent, who considers the child's greatest achievement to be nothing more than a prop for the parent's ego.
Death comes in a lot of forms, and the left manages to find and implement many of them in plain sight and call it virtue.
