The left has an entire arsenal of excuses for pardoning abortion, and you can probably recite most of them off the top of your head. Not that it would be hard. They typically only keep to four or five that stick around like a stain, no matter how many times pro-lifers scrub it out with facts and science.
But many of these can be chalked up to ignorance. These people have been told ad nauseam all their lives that a fetus isn't actually a baby, it's just a clump of cells, or that it can't feel pain, or that it's better to be aborted than live a life where it's unwanted, etc., etc., etc.
If you confront some people who are pro-abortion with these facts, or hit them with examples and arguments that make them face their opinions in critical situations, they'll often cave.

But there is one excuse that cannot be anything other than a knowing lie, and that's "green-washing" an abortion.
I have to credit Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins for the term. In a post to X, she highlights a moment where Democratic U.S. Congressional candidate Esther Kim Varet effectively said she aborted her child because she felt not doing so would've "overburdened" her footprint on the world.
This is after she and her husband used IVF to have two children before that, and that's when Varet "green-washes" her abortion, as Hawkins notes:

This is the logic of abortion supporters. Human beings are seen as the problem, and fewer humans are seen as the solution…even when the victim is your own healthy preborn baby.
No more green-washing abortion. Every human life has value, and every preborn baby deserves protection. We will not stop until we end abortion in our lifetime.
The thing about the "green-washing" excuse is that it cannot be anything but a lie.
Firstly, if you're so concerned about the environment, then why did you have children in the first place? The marching orders from the church of climate change are that we need fewer people, not more, and if you're that married to the message that you'd kill your own child over it, then why defy the doctrine and birth forth two offenders?
Varet clearly doesn't believe it that much.
But logically, if you're trying to paint killing your child as noble and selfless, then you know the opposite is true. Otherwise, you wouldn't be trying to sell everyone on the idea. I'll bet that if Varet were forced to tell the truth, she'd say she was killing the child for selfish purposes. I'm willing to bet money that, at best, she did it because she didn't want the extra financial and parental burden, and at worst, she did it because she knew it'd please the voting base to say that she had an abortion for the cause.
Either way, that's insanely evil. Killing your child for any reason, save a dire need to save the mother's life, always is.
But let's dive even deeper.
I know these people who claim to have abortions to save the planet are lying because there are entire cultures under the protective Democrat umbrella that are having children for the direct purpose of overtaking Westerners in population, and the Democrats say nothing about it. Islamic immigrants brag constantly about having more children than Westerners, whereby they will take over the government and implement Sharia.
It's not a conspiracy theory. They're very open about it.

Yet, these leftists say nothing. They don't encourage environmental responsibility to this group. They sit back in silence, or even applaud their desire to have children on our soil en masse.
This is only further proof that their enthusiasm for saving the Earth through abortion is all made up.
