The Democrats Can't Stop Themselves From Walking Into Their Own Bear Trap

The Democrats haven't won anything in the midterms yet, and I'm already exhausted.

As my colleague Rusty Weiss wrote in his article on Friday, Democrats are already gearing up to impeach President Donald Trump, and to make sure they get it right if the opportunity presents itself, they're holding practice sessions:

Democrats, anticipating winning back control of the House of Representatives following the midterm elections, are already plotting how best to serve the American people.

Just kidding. They're already hashing out a plan to engage in their favorite pastime — impeaching President Trump.

House Democrats are reportedly pushing to build a case for impeachment. And building that case includes launching “shadow hearings” in preparation for the big day.

But catch this moment where one Democrat openly admits they don't stand a chance in winning an impeachment trial, and they know it:

Another House Democrat in that report, one who actually supports impeachment, admits they can't win.

"There are things that we can win, and impeachment is not one of them — now or, unfortunately, at any point during this presidency," they said.

Weiss does a good job of pointing out that their primary goal isn't working for the American people and doing what needs to be done in order to have this country function like a well-oiled machine. They're not focused on improving the lives of their constituents or doing anything that might actually involve being patriotic.

No, they're hyper-focused on punishing Trump, his allies, or anyone who supports him.

And while this is kind of funny to watch, and I'd even say beneficial for Republicans, it's when they have the opportunity to bring that lunacy into positions of power that things become as annoying as they are dangerous.

I don't think you need reminding of the performance and spectacle Democrats were consistently obsessed with putting on during Trump's first term, which soaked up so much of the taxpayers' time, most of which ended up being a hoax anyway. The Mueller investigation was a 24-hour news cycle item that wasted time and $32 million of our money, and ended up being a hoax perpetrated by the Clinton campaign with the help of the FBI, who didn't have sufficient predication to even open the case, but did anyway.

Of course, none of this actually stopped once Trump was out of office. The Trump obsession continued for the Democrats, who, like a couple of gay cowboys on Mt. Brokeback, couldn't quit him. The justice system worked overtime to try to destroy the man, only making him more powerful with every strike, and all the while, doing absolutely nothing to help the people of the United States.

In fact, the Biden administration's entire time in power was effectively a picture-perfect example of what not to do while in office. The people in charge did everything wrong, and I mean everything, and all under the "guidance" of handlers who wielded power through an autopen.

It was such a disaster that it actually got the Democrats kicked out of the White House, Trump put back in, and a mass firing of government officials and employees that will mark one of the greatest moments in America's governmental history.

And here's where I'm just aghast.

The Democrats have seen where this anti-Trump stuff leads. They've seen firsthand how painful it is to do nothing but be the party of "not-Trump," and yet they continue to do it as if they will literally die if they stop. The benefit has only and will only ever be short-term — especially with Trump only having three more years — yet their entire focus is on putting on a show that they're against him.

Again, they know they can't win, but like some psychopathic obsession, they can't stop trying to bring him down.

In the realm of politics, I can somewhat pardon many for being ignorant about political matters. Most people don't heavily engage with it. They live daily lives where it's mostly background noise, and they don't really feel the pull to get involved until things start affecting them directly. It doesn't help that people have short-term memories, either.

But Democrats who do follow politics, see the patterns, and understand cause and effect, have no excuse to trip up this badly. You have to willingly be this kind of stupid, and I mean, really put effort into it. You have to avoid so many facts and ignore so many experiences to get to the point where you're that willing to touch the hot stove again and think you won't get burned.

This would be absolutely hilarious to watch if it weren't for the aforementioned short-term memory of the people. Democrats might be stupid, but they know how to play this game, and they should never get the chance to actually affect us with their stupidity.
