The Left's Moral Currency Is Losing Its Value Because They Can't Stop Making More of It

Inflation is a real issue, but not just an economic one.

When you print too much of a currency, inflation mounts and mounts until you achieve what's called "hyperinflation," where your currency is effectively worth less than toilet paper, and that's not an exaggeration. Ask the Venezuelan members of the military whose reward for going above and beyond is, in fact, toilet paper

But there's another type of currency out there, and though it's insubstantial, it's nonetheless valuable. It's known as "moral currency," and it makes up a large part of the Left's social structure. They use it often, and none more so than in the last decade.

Moral currency used to be something they would control society with. You may recall some big moments in the past, such as Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, in 2004 in Iraq. She became an anti-war activist who became the face of the anti-Bush administration for the Democrats. Her position as a Gold Star mother made her unquestionable, effectively leveraging her status as a grieving mother to work in her and the Left's favor as an untouchable activist.

In fact, utilizing moral currency to get their way has been a leftist tradition for ages, dating back to Southern Democrats selling themselves as the protectors of black people by framing slavery as a positive good that was actually helpful to black people by improving them "physically, morally, and intellectually."

Not much has changed about the Democrat Party since that time.

But the Democrats have ramped up their usage of this moral currency in the recent decade in such a way that they've caused a sort of inflation, and lately their moral positioning isn't worth less than... well, toilet paper. We're talking about causes that used to bring billion-dollar companies to their knees that they now rage about to no avail, despite finding new and exciting ways to be a victim.

Case in point, the New York Post recently reported that the National Education Association is instructing its staff about "neopronouns," "xeopronouns," and battling conservative "villains":

The nation’s largest labor union held a conference earlier this month to train teachers on “Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice” — months after the Nation’s Report Card revealed student scores in reading and math were hitting new lows.

At the woke National Education Association (NEA) gathering, educators spent valuable time learning the nuances of so-called “neopronouns” and “xeopronouns,” while being instructed on ways to subvert conservative “villains” and their own “internal oppression.”

Attendees were also told that “terminology around gender, identity, and sexual orientation changes every 2 years,” while the “terminology around race and ethnicity changes every 10 years.”

One of the PowerPoint slides in the workshop explained that transgenderism breaks down into two categories: binary — which includes “trans man” and “trans woman” — and non-binary: “genderqueer,” “genderfluid,” “bigender,” “demiboy,” “demigirl,” “neutrois” and more.

The constant changing of concepts and terminology isn't a bug; it's a feature. This allows the radical parts of the Left to effectively come up with new ways to create a victim whose victimhood you must not only recognize but also abide by. Not doing so makes you an (insert social sin here) worthy of cancellation and ostracization.

The issue is, the Left does it so much that the public has largely gone numb to it at this point. The aforementioned corporations that would ask "how high" when the LGBTQ+ activist community said "jump" are now quietly ignoring them. The "recognize us or else" threats now have normies asking, "or else what?" The response seems to be nothing but impotent rage.

This was never a good long-term solution. Spaced out, moral currency can be used effectively despite it being dishonest to do so, but I think the internet got the Left drunk on it. Indeed, it worked for a while, and the good times looked like they were going to last forever, but the nature of humanity is that we are all tied to the law of undulation. At some point, we were going to get sick of this and shrug it all off.

And this is costing the Left dearly. The play for control through moral channels has revealed its immorality to an insane degree, and as such, they're losing grip on society. In fact, I'd say they're losing their grip on themselves, too. Their fight has turned inward as much as it's turned outward.
