The Democrats Are Taking All the Wrong Lessons From Democrats Losing Voters and That's Just Swell

Back in 2016, when Donald Trump won his first Presidential victory, I was astounded to see Democrats reach the conclusion that their loss was a result of not being radical enough. True to form, the Democrats pushed further left, and continued to do so until it's a completely unrecognizable mess when compared to itself during the Clinton era... mostly.

They really did shove a ton of their eggs into this hard-left basket, but the weird part was what this brand of leftism used as its foundation. It had all the elements of leftism such as race-baiting, haves vs. have-nots, and "defending the oppressed," but at the heart of it all was the main battle cry of "we're not Trump."

Thanks to what Tulsi Gabbard is discovering was a conspiracy to make Trump look like a foreign-villain that is reported to have come from Barack Obama himself, this tactic of making the Democrat Party the party of "not Trump" actually worked on a lot of people.

But here's the crazy thing: Even after Joe Biden's defeat in 2024 where Americans made it very clear that the radicalism, globalism, the DEI programs, the uncontrollable spending and more were something most Americans didn't want any more of, the left is still reaching the conclusion that their lack of popularity is that they still aren't radical enough.

Case in point, here's Molly Jong-Fast telling Joe Scarborough that while voters are rejecting the Democrat Party, the people on the left who are gaining traction are "brave" and "talk like humans."

Before I go further, I want to point out that Jong-Fast effectively admitted here that the Democrats have lost the ability to seem like — or relate to — normal people *cough* Gavin Newsom *cough* and speak an entirely different language than everyone else while still speaking English.

But then Jong-Fast proves that Democrats haven't learned a single thing in the last decade when she says this.

"It's not necessarily left vs. center, it's fight vs. cave," said Jong-Fast, "and the people who fight get support, and the people who cave... the crew that's afraid, cannot break through."

She then goes on to list some of the people who she thinks are managing to get through to people, including New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York City mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani.

Two things really stand out here.

"Fight vs. cave" is just more of the same "the not Trump party" fallacy that the Democrats have been tripping over for the better part of a decade. Jong-Fast is applauding resistance over good governance, which is a large part of what landed the Democrats into this mess they're currently in. As I've said repeatedly, you cannot be hyperfocused on hating a single man and govern with any wisdom. If every action you take is simply to do the opposite of what Trump is doing, then you've enslaved yourself to him through your hate.

You're not just going to make yourself look ridiculous, you're also going to intentionally hurt the American people just to scratch your spiteful itch.

The other thing is that Jong-Fast is exhibiting the "we need to be more radical" thinking that has made the Democrat Party so unpopular.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is just awful, but one thing she did say that was completely correct was that a glass of water with a "D" on it could get elected in AOC's district. New York is a special kind of blue where you check the candidate's letter before you check their policies.

And that works for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Baltimore... but once you leave big cities, the popularity of these radicals falls apart. In fact, they become the butt of jokes, memes, and endless revulsion.

Jong-Fast, like a lot of her elitist friends in the Democrat space, are so tightly wrapped in their bubble that they can't see past it. They cannot grasp the fact that they aren't failing because they aren't communicating well enough, they're failing because their incompetence and unwillingness to listen to the people is telling us everything we need to know.

They see things through the lens of "experts," and spreadsheets, and nods from "important people," but the average American sees things through the lens of their dinner table, their 9-5, and their grocery bill.

Two different languages, both of them English.

If the Democrats can't wake up to reality and leave their bubble, they're doomed and Republicans will be in charge for the foreseeable future, which, at this point, is just fine by me.
