There are currently stock traders less obsessed with their options trading than Democrats obsessed with January 6. On the anniversary of one of the biggest nothingburgers in American history, you can bet that leftists both online and on television can't stop talking about it.
To be clear, it was definitely a notable event, but the contrast between what it actually was and what the left tried to sell it as, is a gulf of ridiculousness.
And, frankly, nobody but the left seems to care.
As Bonchie highlighted on Monday, CNN and the Democrats spent time today noting that January 6 is still a shameful moment in American history that proves Trump and his supporters (conservatives and Republicans) are dangerous people who hate democracy and would resort to violence the moment they don't get what they want.
Never mind the riots that occurred before and after 2016 election, Black Lives Matter, and anything Antifa was ever a part of.
Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy even went so far as to claim there would be a "bloodbath" at the capitol if Kamala Harris had won. This is the level of alarmism they sink to in order to convince you that the right, not the left, are the violent ones in the room despite all evidence to the contrary.
Was January 6 anything the left claims? Not really. As more evidence came out, it became clear that January 6 was many things, but it wasn't an attempt to overthrow the government. There even seemed to be some confusion among security and staff as people were being escorted into the Capitol.
One of the funniest videos I've seen comes from "Being Libertarian."

But this was more than a day the left overblows. They exaggerate and dramatize things all the time. They truly believe their own narrative. In fact, they believe it so deeply that it's almost become something of a religious day of observance. Listening to them, you'd think Democracy was crucified then rose from the dead in the Biden administration.
Watch as Sonny Hostin of The View attempts to paint January 6 as one of the worst moments in American history, and even goes on to compare it to the Holocaust and WW2. She attempts to paint it as one of those "never forget" moments.
Sunny Hostin just compared J6 to WW2, the Holocaust and slavery.

This is kind of unhinged rhetoric is one reason why they lost.

As I watched this, or any of the J6 commentary from the left, one question kept coming to my mind?
"Who has time for this?"
I don't mean this in terms of listening to them talk about it. I'm talking about the overall question of how something so obviously mundane compared to all the other bad things that have happened in America could become the focal point of anyone living a normal life. You would have to either have the time and money to care about this kind of thing, or so spiteful that you would let it infect your life in ways that would clearly distract you from more important matters.
You would have to have a near-religious obedience to the idea of hating Donald Trump to indulge in this kind of dramatic nonsense in order to care about it at all in the midst of an economic downturn. When you're trying to figure out a budget for next month, and plan for what you want to accomplish financially next year, the left is trying to beat you over the head with J6 like door-to-door evangelists asking if they can speak to you for a moment about how their "democracy" — we are a constitutional republic and always have been — was almost destroyed by the great adversary and his minions.
But it's clear that too few people are actually buying this. Moreover, as Bonchie highlighted, nobody cares. I certainly don't. I have a two-year-old, a job, I'm working on a book, bills to pay, a home to upkeep, and a job that requires me to look deeper into some aspects of our society worth paying attention to so I can talk to you about it.
January 6 does not register as the "atrocity" the left wants to paint it as. Migrant rape, government intrusion, and terrorist acts are far more atrocious by miles than what happened on J6.
But the left can't let it go. It truly is something they've convinced themselves was the near end of America. They don't just talk about it on a high holy day like today, they bring it up whenever Trump is mentioned.
But I just don't care. In fact, a lot of people don't. If they did, Trump wouldn't have gotten near the White House again, yet he's about to walk back into it in a matter of days.
At this point, if you're still obsessing over it, you're a loony.
