One of the largest sources of cultural rot in our society comes directly from our institutions of higher learning. Tragically, the same places that are supposed to be pumping out the best and brightest, and the future leaders of our country, are really just utilizing our taxpayer dollars and billions in tuition fees to brainwash the youth into believing the most radical aspects of leftist thought.
This is a cancer that has spread far and wide, and you can see just how awful it got in both the public and private sectors. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and radical members of congress like her are a product of this. Moreover, corporate America's embrace of Marxist programs and social experiments like DEI are also a clear sign of just how deep the infection goes.
But some states are beginning to take this abuse of the youth and the hatred of this country seriously, and some are altering their laws to make sure this brainwashing stops.
As reported by The Post Millennial, the University of Iowa is closing its Gender, Women's and Sexual Studies Department, which is a win considering this is one of those departments that celebrates and promotes Marxist ideals, and paints the United States and its values and systems as villains. It has no real educational value. All of its value is political, and for the left.
Here's where you might start to feel your warning lights go off. While this department is being torpedoed, it's being replaced with something new called the "School of Social and Cultural Analysis."
Anyone who's been paying attention to how Marxists do things long enough is going to be suspicious. Much of Marxism is based in critical theory, and that involves analyzing something, finding its faults — or making some up — and demanding change based on these findings that prioritize the empowerment of socialism or communism.
University staff patting themselves on the back about this doesn't make one any more confident, either:
Sara Sanders, Dean of the University of Iowa’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), expressed optimism about the changes, saying the university is “excited to reposition these programs for the future.”
"The creation of a School of Social and Cultural Analysis would allow us to build on our considerable legacy in areas that are essential to our mission, while creating more sustainable structures and room for innovative new curricula,” she said.
Cornelia Lang, associate dean for undergraduate education in the college, emphasized the potential benefits for students in the new major, explaining it “would be able to connect their individual experiences and ideas to larger social contexts.”
"This would prepare them well for potential careers or graduate work in cultural studies and related fields through highly adaptable skills like analytical thinking, effective communication, and research,” Lang added.
Building on a "considerable legacy" isn't wiping the slate clean if the legacy you're talking about is the one that got you into trouble in the first place. That's like rehabbing a fighting dog by teaching him new ways to fight. It's the new show, same as the old show.
So what we're looking at is, quite possibly, the new name for Marxist indoctrination, and I expect you'll see this "analysis" wording pop up in various Universities where red states are trying to curb the indoctrination machines within them. Which means the fight isn't nearly over, and the rats just found a new home.
Because this is how Marxism works. It gets instituted either through public pressure or an ideological radical in the right time and office, it does massive damage to whatever it can, then when people drive it out, it puts on a new mask, adopts a new name, and comes back to do it all over again.
I don't see this getting any better unless the staff who puts these things on, and more importantly, the leadership in these colleges, are driven out and replaced with actual educators and people who understand how great America is.
