If Republicans Were Looking for Another Gap In the Democrats' Armor, Maine Has Given One

The wheels are coming off the Democrat Party right now and Republicans need to take advantage right away, not just because it's politically expedient to do so but because it's the right thing to do. The depths and depravity to which the modern left is willing to sink are horrifying, and they have to be stopped.

You can probably think of a lot of reasons right off the top of your head, but I've always held one of the greatest indicators that the left is out of their damn minds is their hubris about controlling other people's children.

Our public school system is so infected with leftist activists who feel the need to indoctrinate children more than teach them how to read, write, and do math that parents have actually gotten into physical confrontations with leftists who are willing to become violent in order to force their ideals on children.

This is something that Republicans have, in my opinion, not taken full advantage of. Despite there being much talk about it, I haven't seen much about it becoming a huge 2024 issue...and it should be.

If Republicans would like to elevate this, they need to look no further than a bill in Maine that would ultimately give the state (in this case, the Democrats) the lawful ability to steal a child away from parents if they refuse to conform to the transgender cause, specifically allowing their child to undergo "gender-affirming health care." This translates to irreversible hormone treatments.

Thankfully, this didn't pass. It was shot down by Maine's joint Judiciary Committee in a 12-0 vote. It didn't even reach the House or Senate.

But it's a bill that shouldn't have ever been created in the first place. The bill itself was created by Maine Representative Laurie Osher, and garnered support from six of her fellow Democrats. So, while it might have been shot down before it could see the House floor, the fact is that there are elements within the Democrat Party that are fine with the idea of snatching children from parents, and this aspect of Democrats is becoming steadily stronger.

This is something Republicans need to jump on--and jump on immediately because this bill is the ultimate end road for the Democrats' adherence to the LGBT cause. While some Democrats wouldn't dare touch bills like this at this stage, at some point the hubris will grow as the slope gets more slippery.

Republicans should be spreading these stories far and wide to parents and hammer the Democrats hard for having the gumption to think they know what's best for children more so than the children's very own parents do. The GOP could, at this point, call themselves the "party of parents," not only vowing to protect the rights of parents but also guard children from the whims of activists. Paired with school choice, the GOP could seize a voting bloc that could further propel their chances in 2024.

Parents have, after all, been effective in forcing established Democrats out of office before. You can ask Glenn Youngkin about that.

This isn't just something the GOP should do because it will give them another edge over Democrats in the coming election, but also because it's imperative that a hard line is drawn in the sand against leftist activists and the Democrats that enable them.

A country that can steal children away from parents because they don't conform to the approved ideological beliefs of the current year is not a free country at all. In fact, it's the most dangerous kind there is.
