When Your Values Revolve Around DEI, Plagiarism Isn't a Big Deal

Former Harvard University President Claudine Gay has resigned over ten instances of plagiarism and one whopping capitulation to antisemitism. As you'd expect from a radical leftist like Gay, she focused less on her obvious wrongdoing and more on the supposed racism she faced during this time.

That was wholly expected from Gay, and I'm not sure one person was actually surprised by this. Her attempt to exaggerate a response against her instead of owning up to her own mistakes is on page one of the leftist handbook.

But it was the media's response that I consider an even greater issue. While I can safely say I'm not surprised by its defense of Gay, the amusing part was how lazy and ridiculous they were at the attempt. Specifically, the Associated Press attempted to come at the issue of Gay's forced resignation with the tired "Republican's pounce" angle, but with even less of an effort put into justifying their defense of Gay.

As Bonchie covered on Wednesday, the AP's story about the incident came down on the right for their "new conservative weapon against colleges: plagiarism."

As you can see, X's community notes were quick to come down on the AP for its ridiculous take, pointing out that charges of plagiarism aren't a "conservative weapon" but an actual breach of rules at Harvard, and Gay was forced to resign over breaking these rules.

It's a very odd response in that usually the left and its media at least try to mask a leftist's wrongdoing in some way, but they didn't. AP flat-out tossed the idea that plagiarism is actually wrong aside and attempted to make it seem that calling it out was the wrong thing to do.

It's almost as if they don't consider it wrong at all, and considering the left's belief in DEI, it's pretty clear they aren't really bothered by plagiarism if the person doing the plagiarizing is of a certain identity.

The "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" obsession with the left is, at its very core, an immoral practice. It's just masked as an attempt at selling their version of "equality," and whenever you use the term "equality," you can pardon anything from bigotry to sexism, and even racism. In the case of Gay, you can pardon calls for genocide against Jewish people and multiple counts of plagiarism.

The left, AP, and I'm willing to bet many others in the corporate media sphere, have shown that they believe that identity and race come before integrity and honesty. According to them, looking diverse and inclusive is much better and more valuable than being competent, capable, and forthright.

When skill and merit mean nothing to you, plagiarism isn't a big deal. Theft becomes a virtue if it means it elevates the right thief.

And when this is your stance, conservatives holding people accountable for their wrongdoing becomes a "weapon" against someone. It's looked at as an unfair thing to call out someone like Gay for their misdeeds.

But the bottom line is that Gay was wrong. DEI is a destructive ideology. Theft is bad.

And the left and its media need a hard reality check.
