While I’m not a huge fan of anyone suddenly losing their job as it’s one of the worst feelings in the world, there was something cathartic about watching the Twitter employees that had been censoring and suppressing anyone who remotely vexed them get the axe.

Now that they’ve been stripped of their power and kicked to the streets, Twitter has been a lot more fun, interactive, and far less annoying. While others’ mileage may vary, Twitter is looking like an actual digital town square and not a place where the conversation is controlled by people who have no business being in control.

This includes the trending list, which seems to feature non-political things that people are actually interested in now. As I discussed in Thursday’s video, the trending list hardly looks like the leftist hellscape that it used to. Now it features things people are actually interested in like sports and entertainment.

But more than that is the fact that Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, is doing something pretty unprecedented when it comes to social media; he’s treating people like adults.

One thing that really impressed me was when Elon Musk tweeted this:

Yeah, he was partly joking about being a complaint hotline operator, but behind the joke was the striking truth that he’s willing to sit down and hear what people have to say about what they want out of the network, what’s working and what’s not, and he was doing so because he wants the site to be a great user experience.

This is a night and day difference from previous management which clearly answered to the government and whatever leftist trend was happening at the time.

Musk is listening while others simply don’t. They tell you to listen, and he is willing to chat. He’s interacting with users all the time and clearly taking notes. He’s willing to go through a trial-and-error process to see what works and what doesn’t.

This is going completely overlooked because the legacy media is doing its absolute best to sell the narrative that Musk is nothing but evil. This is a lie. I only see Twitter getting better from here on. Yeah, speedbumps will be hit but if the goal is a town square where everyone can be heard regardless of party affiliation then it’s the way to be.

I hope Musk creates something great and when he does, I hope other sites follow his lead.
