Biden Just Killed a Trump-Era Immigration Rule That Will Only Make the Border Crisis Worse

If it ain’t broke, break it.

That seems to be the motto of the Biden administration who has, once again, managed to undo a policy from the Trump era that was helping to make things a bit safer for America.

According to the Washington Post, Biden has finally removed the “Remain In Mexico” policy that kept asylum seekers waiting south of our border while the U.S. processed their application for U.S. protection. The Biden administration attempted to kill the policy on day one but was blocked by U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who has now lifted his injunction:

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled June 30 that the Biden administration had the authority to terminate the program, opening a path for DHS to finally bring a close to one of the Trump administration’s most contentious border measures.

DHS officials said asylum seekers waiting in Mexico for their appointments in the U.S. immigration court would be allowed to cross the border on the day of their hearings and stay in the United States while awaiting an outcome.

This effectively gives people the ability to come into the nation and then get lost. They need not wait for a ruling over the validity of their asylum claim. They’re now in the United States and can remain.

According to federal data, Trump’s “Remain” policy decreased this fraud. Only 1.6 percent of the asylum claims made to the U.S. could be considered valid. Many made claims that they knew had no validity and 10,000 terminated their claim before even making it to their hearing.

The Biden administration plan will, instead, rely on the illegal migrant’s word that they’ll return on a specified court date, which very few do.

With our border crisis already spiraling out of control, this effectively makes it easy for people to cross the border into the United States. Now all they need to do is claim asylum and they’re in, never having to bother with the U.S. government again unless they’re somehow unfortunate enough to be caught. This, however, may only result in an immediate release.

According to a court finding by the America First Legal Foundation, the White House released over 750,000 illegal aliens into the United States since the Biden administration came into office.

Rest assured, this will make our immigration problem that much worse, but it would appear this administration’s primary goal isn’t to make things better.
